Her wealth eclipses J.K. Rowling and the Queen’s combined, but you might not have heard of Britain’s richest woman.

An astounding fortune of £11.5 billion makes 46-year-old Kirsty Bertarelli the wealthiest woman in the UK.

And she has the superyacht to prove it.

The vessel costs £250,000 just to refuel and was commissioned for the former beauty queen by her billionaire husband Ernesto, 51.

The couple, who have three children, enjoy an extremely luxurious lifestyle and spend months on their £100 million superyacht, a 314ft-long Vava II.

The couple were spotted relaxing on the top deck of their yacht taking in the Boston cityscape.

It took around 200 craftsmen to build the awe-inspiring vessel, which replaced their old 154ft boat.

Mrs Bertarelli, a former Miss UK, is part of the Churchill China dynasty, the world’s largest manufacturers of ceramics reports the Daily Mail.

After studying at a private boarding school in north Wales, she dabbled worked as a model and songwriter – even co-writing Black Coffee, which was a No.1 hit for All Saints.

In 1997 she met and fell in love with Ernesto Bertarelli, Switerland’s richest man thanks to his grandfather’s pharmaceutical company, Serono.

By 2000, she had been named Britain’s richest woman.

We can pity them...
How unlikely that they’ll ever find the ‘peace which passes understanding’ -

18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”
21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Luke 18

I have no concept of that kind of cash. More than I can imagine. More money than I'll see in a dozen lifetimes, for what amounts to a toy.

Good for him, it keeps a whole of people well-employed. :-)

Heck, my yacht was 674 feet long. Of course, I had to share it with a thousand other guys. Some of whom didn’t smell very good...

I would suggest to you that:

1) 200 craftsmen who have jobs building boats and are therefore not poor are better off than if they were poor and dependent on donations.

2) The folks who sell them ~$500,000 worth of fuel every time they gas up, and all the folks who produce, refine, and transport that fuel are grateful for their business.

3) The folks who run that boat, maintain that boat, and repair that boat, are glad to have paying jobs.

4) All the employees of the businesses that couple owns are glad to have paying jobs, rather than poverty.

5) Need I go on?

I, too, hope that they find the peace of Christ in this world and the next ... I will not, however, presume to judge the likelihood of it.

CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT.

Finish it!

25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

My initial thought was the something like saying “A man that marries for money earns every penny.”

but subsequently I have to ask “Why isn’t that good looking woman married (money not a factor)?

And now I am thinking that “There is a lot of earning to be had with that one” IMHO. I would advise taking loan for a bass pro and enjoy fishing.

My immediate thoughts is . . . gosh, how many missionaries could she support with what she wastes on that boat - but it is her cash.

I’d rather lay up treasures in heaven where thief and corruption can not steal it away.

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

For this, I am very glad.

You see ... I live in these United States of America. In the XXI Century.

By historical world standards, I am fabulously wealthy beyond imagining.

“”It took around 200 craftsmen to build the awe-inspiring vessel, which replaced their old 154ft boat.

200 skilled craftsmen are employed to deliver a stunning piece of engineering for the wealthy ... is this crime being investigated?

yup - that kind of cash is often a burden.

note that there was a family reunion of Vanderbilts a while ago - more than 100 direct descendants were there. Not a single one was a millionaire.

I agree with NorthMountain's reply to you (#24).

There are a lot of hard-working people who are thankful because some of us can afford these luxury yachts.

I think it is wrong to attack people just because they are wealthy and can afford nice things.

You do know that envy is one of the deadly sins?

I’m suspect of these fueling costs

At current marine diesel cost that would mean 350-400 tonnes in fuel

No way

Maybe 50-75 tonnes

I like your perspective, and I am glad you shared it.

Unlike Soros, I would imagine that most wealthy people really do benefit people who work for their livings through the provision of goods and services.

Don't eat the rich; create a product in which a rich person would want to invest.

Indeed ... see Inside Politics: A hard-earned lesson. A prominent RAT (Patches Kennedy) suddenly realized the impact of the luxury yacht tax and was looking to implement tax credits for purchasing a yacht over 50 ft. The tax undershot on anticipated revenue and killed off an industry. Patches, begging people to buy yachts.
