I am getting the same intuitive notion as you.
Arithmetic strongly favors Republican pickups in the Senate in 2018, because the DEMONcrats have so many seats at risk.
Also, because I believe Trump Nation continues to grow, just as it gradually expanded throughout the campaign.
To put some icing on the cake, I am starting to suspect Jeff Sessions has a secret Federal Grand Jury empaneled which will unleash indictments in due time. His “quietness” would fit right in with that possibility . . . as would the Trump strategy of allowing the Press to be totally distracted and juked out of their panties by the meaningless Special Counsel “Russia probe.”

IMHO, The Democrat Party is doomed to failure and self collapse. The only way they can save themselves is to dump Obama, Clinton, Sanders, Warren, Schumer, Pelosi, Perez, Ellison, Wasserman Shultz, all of the “Obama failed African-Americans” Congressional Black Caucus, etc., and return the entire political party to the political “Center”. I think you are right about Jeff Sessions. This game is just getting started. Remember POTUS, Trump has some nutcase turncoats in his own party, called “Never Trumpers”. Insane, John McCain is the leader of the pack!!!
However...the political boom from Sessions will come in two ways, revealing massive voter fraud by the entire Democrat Party within the next six to eight months, and the self-committed suicide by the Democrat Party itself!!! I think Americans are largely tired of "Russia, Russia, Russia!", and want to get on with their lives. That, combined with the manufacturing jobs that are already coming back, will spell a super majority for the GOP in 2018.
If only we could primary out the losers we have now and replace them with Conservatives for 2018. Sigh.
This last election proved that there is support for ANYTHING the dems put out. Trump did a very high energy campaign only barely won against the crooked party.

You appear to be betting on a failure to “repeal” Obamacare. Although we will have to swallow hard and accept a new and very soft definition of “repeal” a bill will pass and be signed by President Trump.
Given your track record I’m curious what your 2018 projection would be for my scenario.
