The death of the dinosaurs was good news for frogs

The asteroid that crashed into the planet about 66 million years might have been the end of the line for much of life on Earth, but for a few frogs it allowed a great leap forward.

Genetic analysis by an international team of researchers from the US and China indicates that 88% of existing frog species are descended from just three frog families that survived and prospered following the mass extinction event known as the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K–Pg) boundary, which wiped out an estimated three-quarters of animals including non-avian dinosaurs and most large mammals.

So a 10 km asteroid hit the earth and wipes out all species of dinosaurs but leaves the frogs alive. Either dinosaurs where a lot more delicate than science suspects or frogs are a whole lot tougher.

Flash forward 60 million years and frog species are going extinct, supposedly because of a slight rise in temperatures. Something is not making sense here.

There certainly are fewer frogs today than 20 or 30 years ago. My mom’s farm pond used to be filled with the chatter of dozens. Now, it’s silent.

Color me extremely skeptical. A lot [MOST] of the theories put forth as established fact, seem to have inconsistencies that really don't add up. Then again, maybe today's frogs are a bunch of snowflakes.

Frogs, as long as they’re moist and cool they, don’t have a high energy demand and can go a long time inactive.

Also, as to the frenzy of them declining, there was a huge hand wringing fest over them disappearing along with other amphibians in the high Sierra a while back and it was all globalwarmingglobalwarmingglobalwarming until someone realized it was trout being stocked into alpine lakes that had never had them, by aircraft...

The fish in the pond got big enough to eat them. That, or mom used too much DDT around the farm back in the 50’s & 60’s.
