A helicopter has apparently tried to bomb Venezuela's Supreme Court in what President Nicolas Maduro called a "terrorist attack".

The government says a police office flew the helicopter over the capital, Caracas, and dropped grenades.

Footage on social media shows a helicopter circling over the city before a loud bang is heard.

The officer believed to have seized the aircraft has issued a video statement condemning the government......

President Maduro said grenades had been dropped in the attack and he promised that security forces would capture those behind it.

"I have activated the entire armed forces to defend the peace," he said in an address from the Miraflores presidential palace.

"Sooner or later, we are going to capture that helicopter and those who carried out this terror attack."

The police officer, who called himself Oscar Perez, appeared on Instagram, flanked by armed and masked men in uniform.

He appealed to Venezuelans to oppose "tyranny".

"We are a coalition of military employees, policemen and civilians who are looking for balance and are against this criminal government," he said.

"We don't belong to any political party or tendency. We are nationalists, patriots and institutionalists.".......

Not sure what to make of this late breaking news from Venezuela, a staged incident to justify more repressive measures or a sign of the regime breaking. Maduro calls it a "terror attack".

NTN 24.ve Twitter feed showed a helicopter flying over Caracas with a banner invoking Article 350 of Venezuela's constitution, the right of the people to resist tyranny.

Tonight plenty happening with National Assembly President Julio Borges of the opposition being roughed up by National Guard, members of the National Assembly being besieged by brownshirt type thugs, pots and pans being hit by thousands in protest.

Also, the state stripping powers away from the state prosecutor's office which has criticized and investigated police and thug violence against the opposition during the nearly three months of continuous protest.

Daniel Duquenal in a blog post last Friday says food including bread itself is becoming more and more scarce, medicine even worse. Hospitals are a joke as far as supplies to handle the most basic matters like childbirth, much less complicated matters......

The BBC has updated its story to speak of “gunfire and grenades” being used in the “attack” from the helicopter.

Things are getting End Stage crazy in that country.
I predict a regime change before the year is out.
Maduro is due to leave in January. If he’s smart, he’ll make that sooner. These people are desperate for their lives to stop getting worse.

Worse should happen to every member not currently working or on the fence to overthrowing the current Venezuelan government, then gunfire and grenades.

I’m thinking razor wire, salt, and lemon juice. Followed by bandages, and a few days healing, ripping said bandages off, salting, lemon juice. Repeat until dead.

Maybe it should have bombed the Reichstag parliament building instead, to make the false flag attack even more realistic...

One can only hope. Venezuela is a poster boy for socialism.

He probably learned this trick from Erdogan of Turkey.

Seems like a pretty poor “attack”.

The political opposition preaches non-violence and that’s what makes me suspicious about this incident.

Of course the food and medicine shortages are no laughing matter and those alone should drive people to the edge in order to survive including use of violence.

Maduro is due to leave in January.

I doubt Maduro is going to leave willingly. Commies seek only to hang onto power. Hopefully he will go, even if it is in a pinewood box.
I hope your prediction for a regime change before the year closes pans out.

You are so right. Look how long it is taking US to rid ourselves of our own little Socialist.

Must say, Maduro has no qualms about using the term “terror attack” where our boy had to have the words tugged out of his mouth even when true.
