The longest field goal kick in NFL history is 64 yards, a record set by Matt Prater on December 8, 2013.
Goes to show how much attention I pay to the NFL these days. Well, it was a nice run by Mr. Dempsey anyway. Thanks for the correction.

It is true. When people dont have a dog in the fight, they dont watch womens sports (except things like figure skating and such, which is an exception) they watch mens sports because that is where the peak of physical competition is at.
A couple of small exceptions. Women's basketball is a big deal in Connecticut, because the UConn women's team is so dominant (despite losing this year). Also, women's roller derby used to be a thing (more than the more athletic men), and the women weren't particularly much to look at.

I know what you mean.
In the roller derby (and yea, I do remember roller derby!) I view that as a freak show in the same way Women’s Boxing is a freak show. The only thing missing is a midget with a round card.
As for UConn, they all have that dog in the fight there!

If I was an NFL head coach saddled with that hot wet mess by a”progressive” team owner, I’d always go for two.

..., a young woman named Heidi Garrett, blasted a 48-yard field goal through the uprightsstill the national record for the longest high school field goal by a female. And 20 yards shorter than the longest high school field goal by a male.
There are 32 pro teams, each with one kicker. The odds of her beating out a guy for the spot are non-existent.

Watched that game with all my 12 year old buddies. Afterwards and forevermore when we played sandlot ball and a pass was blown it was called a Garo-pass.

Tom Dempsy had an advantage in his modified shoe which has since been banned in NFL place kicking.

Derrick Coleman, he’s deaf. Signed with the Falcons this year. And the Broncos had a monkey riding a dog for TD celebrations for a while.

Balls don’t wind up in the kicker’s hands on a bad snap, the holder gets stuck with it, which is why the holder is often the backup QB.

I remember when QB, Steve Spurrier won the Heisman at Florida. He was also the punter which can be a real advantage.

That’s racist but at least they are trying.

I’d rather have my foot than the record. Now he’s got neither.
