Posted on 06/11/2017 6:14:03 PM PDT by Beave Meister
Delta Airlines announced on Sunday that it was withdrawing its sponsorship of New York Citys nonprofit Public Theater over a new Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar featuring a facsimile of Donald Trump in the title role meeting a very bloody end.
No matter what your political stance may be, the graphic staging of Julius Caesar at this summers Free Shakespeare in the Park does not reflect Delta Air Lines values, the company said in a statement, ending a four-year-old sponsorship.
Their artistic and creative direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste. We have notified them of our decision to end our sponsorship as the official airline of The Public Theater effective immediately.
A rep for the Public Theater did not immediately respond to TheWraps request for comment.
The production, directed by Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis, began performances on May 23 and is due to open officially on Monday but it has drawn widespread attention for its ripped-from-the-headlines approach to the Bards tragedy.

Delta force one
I believe American Express is another sponsor of this obscenity put on by some Manhattan screwballs. Anyone here have an American Express card?? You should answer, “Used to”.
Good for Delta. I’d have not supported such a depiction of Pbama and I doubt most Americans or Republicans would, either.
Let that play do the same thing to Barack Obama and see what happens..these liberal loons love talking about “Art” fine, do the same kind of “Art” depicting Barack Obama with his head chopped off or getting assassinated Id love to see that kind of “Art”
Not surprising, the NYTimes is another sponsor of this treasonous garbage.
Good for Delta...
It sends a nice message to other left wing Trump hating organizations to remain civil or their funding will be in jeopardy
I’m not getting rid of my AmEx over this right away.
I WILL contact them right now and tell them they need to stop this or they will lose my business.
NYT published this very positive review after their sponsorship came to light online, yet don’t mention their sponsorship in the piece. Green should be fired.

NYT Critics Pick
Naturally, some right-wing commenters are revving up their outrage over what they assume is an incitement to violence against the president...
Neither as a citizen nor as a critic do I object to any of this. The first half of the play, culminating in that funeral scene, is great, nasty fun, even if, at the heart of Manhattan, its preaching to the choir...
A version of this review appears in print on June 10, 2017, on Page C1 of the New York edition with the headline: Democracy Dies in the Park.
I HATE the Times and I am GLAD I no longer work in Manhattan.
Staten Island may as well be a million miles away from Manhattan for all we have i common and I like it that way.
Very satisfying when push back from Conservatives works.
“Naturally, some right-wing commenters are revving up their outrage over what they assume is an incitement to violence against the president...”
If “Julius Caesar” was played by a scrawny, egotistical, black man, this snowflake reviewer would have had no problem understanding what was wrong with it.
We will be closing our Bank of America account tomorrow if they don’t take their funding from this blatant assassination initiative.
Well when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards, that’s my policy.
Fox and Friends had a video of the assassination scene this morning. Caesar is at the podium on a stage dressed like Donald Trump with the US and presidential flags on either side. The "assassins" drag him from the podium and attack him. It was noted that the assassins were all "minority" men and women to depict his supposed racism and misogyny. According to one of the F&F hosts, the only thing missing was Kathy Griffin walking off with his severed head.
If I remember correctly, in the play “Julius Caesar”, the assassins are all killed by the end of the play.
Good for Delta!!!!!
I hope their business sky rockets.
I would not be surprised to hear it does and should we need to fly, I will be keeping this in mind.
FWIW, the article also mentions Bank of America pulling it’s support.
