Look before you leap. It’s an old saying that may have helped keep a Florida family safe this Memorial Day after a large alligator took up residence in their swimming pool.

Sarasota County sheriff’s deputies were called Monday to a Venice, Florida home to help relocate the uninvited guest, which was measured at 7 to 8 feet long.

Gators in Florida swimming pools are not uncommon. But, this one was captured on video thrashing and rolling about as a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapper attempted to drag the critter out of the water.

After the trapper slipped a noose over the gator’s head and dragged it toward the pool’s steps, the animal went berserk, rolling more than a dozen times and snapping its jaws.

Now that sounds like a good honest job that needs doing. A lot of gators out there and a lot of people.

Need to be hunted without restriction, at some point they may again need some protection but not now for sure. It will be a boon for the Florida economy and a more safe environment for toddlers and pets.

I see the ubiquitous screened-in Florida pool, so how did he get in there?

We saw those screened pools and lost interest in a job back there.

I can imagine what else slithers and creeps through that hole in that infested place. What next, a python for the kid’s pool party?

Don’t think most people would want to swim in a pool where the water has turned green instead of clear blue.

As green as that water is, it seems the owners don’t use chlorine.
