Italy’s Court of Cassation ruled on Monday that a Sikh man was not allowed to carry a knife considered sacred by his religion in public.
Migrants have a duty to conform to local values in the society they choose to move to, the court said, even if those values are different from in their home country.
The kirpan, a small knife or sword, is one of five religious articles many Sikhs carry with them at all times.
But the legality of carrying the curved knife in public has been debated in several countries where Sikhs are a minority.

These are just knives. And we do believe in the right to keep and bear arms for all, but not to abuse that right—the point of that right is to vanquish terrorists and terrorism at the level of the ordinary citizen. Should we go after people just for carrying a hunting knife in public?
What Italy is doing is using the Muslim excuse to crack down on non-Muslims. Just like when they go after shechita slaughter and male circumcision.
We were visiting relatives in NJ. The local gas station is run and owned by Sikhs. The older guy carries his curved knife on a sash thing. The younger cousin thinks he is “scary”. I tried to explain it to her - but....
I had to admit - he wasn’t talkative or very friendly.

Towards the end of the Obama administration the U.S. Army made it okay for them to wear a beard and a rag on their head instead of the uniform requirements for everyone else. I would not be surprised if those Obama Generals try and change it so they can carry the knife as well. The dems have so screwed up the military by treating it as a social experiment that I fear we could not win any long drawn out conflict or war that would require military unit cohesion. As a retired Vietnam vet I would have a hard time telling the enemy apart from fellow soldiers on the battlefield and even if I did I would not want to trust my life to someone who I know belongs to a cult which looks at me as an infidel who must be killed, nor would I trust a female soldier to be able to fireman carry me to safety if wounded in battle. The dems have looked at military only in regards to try and win votes, not to win a war againt an enemy.
In Seattle, a log of Sikhs drive cabs. Very polite guys. I was stuck on a corner far from a cab stand one day, and the driver, noticing my distress, came to the curb and picked me up...drove me several blocks to my doctor’s office and REFUSED to take payment. I’m a woman, was in distress...very chivalrous cab driver, not like the woman-hating muzzles we read about every day.
And I gave him an appropriate amount of cash anyway.
