I usually put 3 heaping tablespoons in a 20 oz cup of warm milk with a couple shots of espresso mixed in.

Oh, and freshly ground black pepper. Just a bit.

Try hydrogen peroxide to replace zicam. Usually works for me-swab just barely inside nose and ears. Only had one time it didn’t cure cold in a day-ended up with bronchitis.

Another cheap cure :)

If people want to take it in capsule form empty capsules can be bought by the 1,000s for relatively cheap. A cheap gizmo for filling them can be bought for around $15. One can fill 45 of them at a time easily.

My wife and I began taking it in liquid form about a month ago and we can feel a big improvement in reducing joint soreness.

Have you tried Arnica tablets? They are tiny and dissolve in the mouth. Arnica is great for reducing swelling. I get them from vitacost.com quite cheaply. Arnica tabs and gel are amazing.

I have been prone to gout attacks for years. They decreased substantially after I quit alcohol several decades ago but would still occur after eating high purine foods and outdoors work stressing the feet. Six months ago I decided to restrict my diet limiting the amount and frequency of steak and fish but still had some attacks. So I did more internet research desperate for supplements and found turmeric/curcumin and tart cherry extract. I found both at the local GNC/Rite Aid and have been taking both for around a month. Foot pain gone after two weeks. This is important because I like to play a round of golf weekly with our traveling club. Two Saturdays ago I broke 80 for the first time since 1990 shooting a 76 which was five over. I felt more flexible and was able to turn fully through every full shot from wedge to driver. This on a course I’ve been playing for 30+ years and never shot better than an 85 on. Several drives left me with nine irons instead of six irons or hybrids to the greens. Not bad for a 70 year old. The downside is that my USGA index is headed south and all our tournaments are played on net. The curcumin/tart cherry regimen has also eliminated my need for NSAIDs so far ad I have a bottle of bromelain caps if the need arises.

I didn’t know you could take arnica orally. I’m too cheap to pay for pain relieving lotion/gel but as I age that may change! Husband is in construction and I’m in food service-tired and sore bodies!

He left a professional career to start his own construction business and I went from a professional job to stay at home mom then back to waitressing. We aren’t worn out from decades of constant physical labor but it still affects us a bit.

another thing to try is capsacin cream (sp?)- you probably have tried it- but capsacin works to dull pain- works pretty well

I’ll check out htat hydrogen trick=- did it shorten the length of your cold? And you cold turned into bronchitis after using it? Did i misunderstand your post?

Hydrogen peroxide has cured a cold every single time I used it when cold symptoms first appeared, except for the one time that I ended up with bronchitis. And that may have been because I waited until symptoms had been present for a few days. Sorry I wasn’t clear before.

When I first get a tickle in my throat and feel other symptoms I swab each nostril (not deep!) and ear (obviously using 4 separate q tips) several times that day. If symptoms are still there I’ll do same thing the next day. It almost always works. Other than the bronchitis this winter, I hadn’t had a cold for years-amazing when you consider that I live in Minnesota (intense winters!), homeschool six kids, and work late nights. I get stretched thin and simply cannot ever take a sick day.

Thanks, I will definitely try that-

[[I get stretched thin and simply cannot ever take a sick day.]]

No doubt- hats off to you moms- (and dads- but mostly moms who do the brunt of raising children in many cases)- Had a friend recently get a very bad flu- and she had to take care of 4 kids- alone- would call her up and wow- she sounded very sick- made me nervous just listening to her cough and hear the obvious weakness in her voice over the phone- she eventually ended up in bed a few days- which was very rare for her- so you know she was really sick- but she still managed to get kids off to school, fed- taken care of after school- then would plop back in bed exhausted-

You moms are super troopers- really- we men crumble and fall all to pieces when we get the sniffles- My hat off to you all-

Will hydrogen peroxide help prevent sinus infections?

I’m not sure. It’s called “the poor man’s antibiotic “ and there is a food grade you can take orally, but I don’t mess with that because the food grade is often sold in concentrations that are toxic. Not worth the risk to have it around my kids and play pharmacist.

Also, you don’t want to use it too frequently because, like antibiotics, it kills the good bacteria along with the bad.

love cooking with turmeric.. I also take a daily capsule.

Indian and Thai food are among my favs for the great spices they have (referring to flavor spices - not necessarily “burn the gut out” spices

LOL. My husband grew some in our backyard. I cut it with an expensive “stainless steel” knife made in Denmark.

I found out the stainless wasn’t stainless. We now have a permanently stained orange knife ; ) That is why I asked if it would stain the teeth. Hmmm.
