I assume there is going to be a phase 2 and a phase 3. I believe phase one can be done with reconciliation. Maybe it is phase 3 where it will require 60 votes.
This is an absolutely HORRIBLE bill. And I say that as a passionate evangelist against the “Affordable” Care Act.
The bottom line is that this DOES eliminate coverage for pre-existing conditions. For states that choose to opt out.
What if you live in one of those states? Are you supposed to uproot your family and move to a Blue state like CA to get coverage?
Oh, and the insurance companies can charge “old” people FIVE TIMES (vs THREE times under the “A”CA) premiums. As if my EIGHTEEN THOUSAND DOLLAR premium under the “A”CA (with $6K PP deductibles) was not already enough. What’s reasonable? $30K per year with $20K deductibles? $50K per year? WHERE DOES IT STOP?!!!
You guys really need to quit the “Trump won! = good!” bandwagon BS.

Ryan and Trump affirmed pre-existing conditions will be covered.
Trump said in his interview by 60 minutes, on March 31st, that pre-existing will remain.
Tell them there is nothing to be excited about, tell them they are good people and tell them that if they know anyone who needs help with his medical bills then they can each dig into their own pockets to pay for it.
Problem solved.

AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders issued the following statement on the passage of the American Health Care Act through the U.S. House of Representatives:
“The political fig leaves that were added behind closed doors to garner votes do nothing to change the facts of this bill. It will still leave at least 24 million Americans uninsured, still cut Medicaid in exchange for tax handouts for corporations and millionaires, still cause costs to skyrocket for older Americans and still eviscerate the protections for people with pre-existing conditions that are guaranteed under the Affordable Care Act.
“Patient groups, healthcare providers, and voters in blue states, red states, and purple states alike have already spoken out repeatedly against this cruel and dangerous legislation. But the House of Representatives and the Trump administration chose to ignore their pleas. It now falls to the U.S. Senate to finally listen to the American people and stop this bill in its tracks.”

One aspect of the Affordable Care Act that Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans like, however, is that it ensures that insurance companies cannot deny patients coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Paul Ryan’s plan also involves maintaining this provision.
When asked during a recent 60 Minutes interview whether he would make sure companies still can’t deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions, Trump said, “Yes. Because it happens to be one of the strongest assets.”
This was not a new development, and Trump said throughout the campaign that he would keep this intact.

I take Humira for Ankylosing Spondylitis and it went from $2400 for two 40ml shots that last me a month up to $5000 under Obama so what the hell, the sky's the limit now.
If someone is stoopid enough to contract HIV (given that virtually all cases are behavior-based) then they should pay a lot. Otherwise the rest of us are subsidizing their depraved and reckless mis-behavior.
