Like it or not, ESPN isn't sticking to sports
ESPN ^ | April 12, 2017 | Jim Brady

“Hey, ESPN: Stick to sports.”

I’ve read thousands of social media posts and reader emails about ESPN over the past 15 months. If there’s one phrase that tends to surface most frequently, it’s that chestnut suggesting the network’s only proper place is in the athletics lane.

I won't keep watching. Perhaps unless the Mets are on no and the occasional 30 for 30 no reason to watch until college football season kicks off./src on/I am sure the poor presenters and journalists who got axed today appreciate ESPNs commitment to Social Justice./src off/

Yeah, screw the customers and what they want.

Doesn’t seem like that’s been working out too well for them.

Almost 2 years now without watching a single minute, not even a top of hour break. Who needs it? Easy to check my phone with free apps. I stopped watching when they started hammering Trump in 2015.

I’m watching the Munich vs. Dortmond soccer football game on ESPN right now. This is the first time I have watched ESPN in a year or so. I don’t watch them because of their liberal social crap. The other night I was running through the channels and came across ESPN channel and it was about black lives matter, a book on black lives or something and that is what they were talking about. Nothing to do with sports at all. If I want that type of programming, there are channels for it, but not on ESPN, FOX sports, BEIN Sports, etc. ESPN needs to burn in ratings hell. People need to quit watching them. Football coverage carries them. The NFL draft is tomorrow. Instead of watching ESPN if you want to watch the draft, watch it on the NFL channel. I do my best to avoid ESPN at all costs. I have gotten just as sick of them as I did FOX News and the other news channels over the years.

ESPN and the NFL National Felons League and their kneel down at the national anthem were the last straw I needed to dump cable.

I have't missed either it or the huge bill.

Charter is literally begging me to come back.

Screw ESPN, the NFL and the cable company.

And screw all 19 different taxes added on to my cable bill.

ESPN carried a Nats-Mets game last week. It was the first time I tuned in since the last time they carried a Nats game and it's the last time I'll ever tune in. From now on I'll just listen on the radio.

Whenever they air a baseball game the action on the field is always secondary to their inane chit chat and live interviews. I absolutely hate when they go to a split screen for a conversation in the announcers booth or an interview. I want to see the game!

America was GREAT before sports. Since then, it’s turned into a wretched, self-absorbed, drunken, morbidly obese lard@ss and slothy society. This is who ESPN caters to.

I’m sure Jim Brady’s boot-licking of the executives culture plan will save his @ss. For now...

I hate ESPN and it’s retarded take on sports. Hope it dies a very painful death.

Stopped watching a while back. ESPN is a leftist joke. Their politics has no place in sports.

This is a few weeks old - does the author still have a job? If he does, is he singing the same tune?

It’s kinda like the band on the Titanic....

It didn’t know arrogance could drip from my computer monitor until I read that article. Man is it going to take time to wash this off.

Citizen Kane hit the mark when he says something along the lines that he’ll be out of business in 50 years..if the paper he bought keeps losing money at the pace it was.

It’s not about a profit It’s about self grandiosity and pimping your every opinion out to the world as if you were the only one that matters.

The gist of this commentary is that ESPN has moved into politics and it’s wildly successful so they will not stop. Yet today they lay off 100 people. Congitive dissonance - ACTIVATE!

Someone else should start a sports channel and stick to sports. There is a big opportunity here.
