I don’t think that’s the worst post I’ve ever seen on FR, but I’d say it’s easily in the top two.
Hernandez was a thug and gang-banger from his early teen years. But school officials and local authorities looked the other way, because of his talents on the gridiron. When Florida recruited him, Urban Meyer was warned, but Hernandez’s talents were too impressive to ignore. And lastly, the Patriots were well aware of his background, but they decided to take a shot, and for a while it paid off.
But in the end, Hernandez decided he was bullet-proof (because of his NFL status) and elected to go full-gangsta. He took three lives (sorry, I disagree with the results of his most recent try) and destroyed countless more. Then, he elects to take his life on the day his old team was going to the White House.
I applaud Tebow for trying to help his former teammate. But in the end, Hernandez chose the wrong path and refused to leave it. And he chose a coward’s death. It wasn’t football that “ruined” Aaron Hernandez; it was a lifetime of bad choices that were, for many years, concealed by his football talents. Not sure they can find those traits in a study of his brain.
You're absolutely right. I worked for 25 years in uniform in NY State's prison system. Met many evil souls, and thugs in my career. Too bad it took him so long to do away with himself. I hope his family gets nothing.

It is possible that Hernandez, because of his death, may be considered by law to be innocent of the Lloyd murder. Under a legal doctrine in use in Massachusetts called abatement ab initio, if someone dies after a conviction but before the completion of their appeal, the person’s legal records in that matter may be wiped clean with the conviction vacated.[13]

Weird blame thing you got going there. Mr. Hernandez is responsible for the murder he committed, the jail he wound up in, the state of his own mental health. Those around him were not responsible for his actions, his wrong decisions.
I think it’s likely that people like Tebow did all they could to help him. I suspect there was no “him” left to help - he was so given over to the life he chose to live that he would not let anyone influence his decisions for the better. I don’t think this means others should not try or that only people with credentials can help him, especially if he wouldn’t seek professional help. I think the “good Samaritan rules” apply here.

Did he do this so his family would get all his pension etc? Since in Mass, it negated his conviction?
Depends on the policy and how long it was in effect. Did he even have life insurance?

If there is some dude who corralled Arron Hernandez, wrapped a bedsheets around his neck, lifted him up and hanged him, I want that guy on my NFL team.
I commend your years of service in the corrections system. Tough job that few people are willing to do, and corrections officers have to endure the worst of humanity, day in and day out. More than the rest of us, you understand there are some people who need to locked away for the rest of their lives and others who deserve that needle in their arm, and sooner rather than later.
