This man should count his lucky stars he didn’t require an MRI during those 18 years since his surgery.

"Hey, look, he's doing an "Aliens" impersonation! Hahaha!"

Hey, he got a free surgical tool.
Surprised he never got an xray in 18 years. Or ultrasound or anything. A bright flashlight, sheesh!

"Looks more like a set of forceps instead of scissors."

Agreed. Hemostats -- left clamped -- that later failed due to stress-concentrated corrosion.

If they had remained intact, they would not be the serious threat presented by the two sharp, broken ends. IMO, they had to remove them -- in their present, dangerous condition...

When my wife had her (planned) caesarean, the doc and surgical assistant counted and took stock of every single item before they sewed her up.

It was interesting; they went down a list.

I got to observe it all, and the doc, who was afraid of fainting dads in the OR, asked me part way through if I was OK, and I said “I lost my watch”.
