Pro-Abortion Democrat (Leaky Leahy) Shockingly Admits Abortion is Used to Exploit Women

U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy appeared to be trying to support abortion during his questioning of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch on Wednesday.

It may not have been intentional, but the Vermont Democrat’s testimony actually reinforced a pro-life point about how abortion often is used to exploit women.

Leahy brought up a personal experience he had before Roe v. Wade with an abortionist who botched a young woman’s abortion and nearly killed her, along with her unborn child. That abortionist, he said, was Nazi-trained.

The Washington Examiner reports:

He discussed a case in which he, as a state’s attorney in Vermont, prosecuted an abortionist who had been trained at Auschwitz, the massive death camp established by the Third Reich to kill Jews and other people considered undesirable by Hitler’s regime.

The defendant in this case, a woman, had been trained to perform abortions so that SS officers at the Nazi death camp could have their way with [sexually abuse] the women imprisoned there before sending them to the gas chamber.

A number of pro-life leaders quickly took notice Leahy’s comments.

Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, said his story exposes some of the horrors of abortion — horrors that did not stop after Roe.

“Senator Leahy just reaffirmed why abortion industry health regulations should not continue to be given a pass,” Mancini said. “As his account details, the practice of abortion has a long and violent history of exploiting women, and continues to do so for profit under the legal protection of Roe v. Wade. Horrific cases like the one described by Sen. Leahy reminds us of the need for the deep and unwavering desire to protect all human life that Judge Neil Gorsuch will undoubtedly bring to the Supreme Court bench.”

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List, tweeted about how Leahy’s story backfired. Rather than defend abortion, she said his story demonstrated how abortion hurts women and often is used to exploit them.

Maureen Ferguson, senior policy advisor of The Catholic Association, added: “We share Senator Leahy’s stated concern about shady and dangerous abortionists preying upon women in crisis, but he should open his eyes to the prevalence of such incompetent and unethical doctors today under Roe’s regime of legal abortion. Just one gruesome example is Dr. Kermit Gosnell who operated without a safety inspection for 17 years despite his horrific practices that ultimately resulted in his conviction for murder. This factsheet documents that today’s legal abortion industry is notoriously unregulated, health and safety violations are commonplace, and it attracts a disproportionate number of seedy doctors who take advantage of vulnerable women.”

Studies have found that coerced abortions are frequent with about half of post-abortive women saying they felt pressured to have abortions. One study found 64 percent of women who had abortions said they were coerced by a partner or parent. Victims of sex trafficking also report that their abusers frequently force them to have abortions so that they can continue be trafficked.

LifeNews also has reported numerous cases of women whose partners allegedly physically abused them because they refused to have an abortion. In several cases, the coercion and violence resulted in their unborn baby’s death.

Abortions typically occur because the mothers of the babies want the abortions to occur. Women aren’t the victims. The babies are the victims.

Do you view the fathers of the babies as victims?

I’m sorry but there are thousands upon thousands of women who have stated that they were forced into their abortions by others around them. Most of these women have said that they wanted to keep their babies, but found no support for an unplanned pregnancy, and they regretted their abortions nonetheless.

I agree that the babies are always victims, but there are plenty of instances where the women have been victimized also.

Planned Parenthood's Alan Guttmacher Institute did a study in which they questioned women about whether they would try to get an abortion if it were not legal. Around 90% of the responding women said that they would not try if it were illegal.

That means that only 10% of the women would try to get an abortion if it were illegal.

Translate that to today. 90% of the women going into abortion clinics do have qualms of conscience, but because it is legal, then it is all right to go ahead with it.

Another point - most women have to be talked into having an abortion. It may begin in the sex ed class, where it is taught to be a natural event. It happens when a girl tells her boyfriend and her parents that she is pregnant and they all convince her to get rid of it. Most Hispanic women who enter an abortion clinic pat their tummies just before they reach for the door.

I was at a clinic one time praying on the sidewalk and an older man, we presumed to be the father, drove into the parking lot with two of his daughters (?) in the back seat. He forced them both out of the car and they all went into the clinic. When we called to him he told us to shut the hell up. I don't know if both of them were pregnant but going into the clinic was not their decision.

After spending many years observing first hand what happens, it is not fair to lay the entire blame on the girl.

But getting back to the Guttmacher study, PP is in the fight for their lives. If abortion is ever declared null and void in this land then we will have only 10% of the women seeking abortion who would actually work to get an abortion regardless of the law.

Our octogenarian senator is in his feeble-minded dotage. He also is a lapsed or lukewarm Catholic who may have a guilty conscience about toeing the party line rather than following his church and Christ.

“Do you view the fathers of the babies as victims?”

I have read many stories about men who regret lost fatherhood.

Have also read many stories about men who forced their wives/girlfriends/daughters/stepdaughters/sisters to have abortions they did not want. So they are not victims they are just as guilty as the abortionist.

Do you view women who have abortions over the objections of the babies’ fathers to be just as guilty as the abortionists?

The fact that some women blame their actions on men does not mean that men are actually responsible for the women’s actions.

It means, instead, that the women refused to take responsibility for their own actions, denied their own moral culpability when those actions hurt another person, and so blamed someone else.

You said men here, and I never did.

There are women who would not have had abortions had it not been legal. They would have figured out how to survive either raising a baby on their own or maybe would have chosen adoption. I am suggesting that many women and, I’ll even say it, girls, are victimized by the sex and abortion industry. They are being told that there are no consequences to sex outside of marriage, but there are. There are lots and lots of consequences to having sex outside of marriage.
