Thanks. I travel to San Francisco frequently and they’ve definitely taken up residence there - they are all over, not just on Telegraph Hill - squawking and carrying on as they do.

I pointed them out to my family who promptly got out binoculars and were shocked that there were “parrots in San Francisco” of all place.

I love watching them and had a few in my own backyard - they are definitely not native to Southern California.

I know this is very late in the thread, but I'm wondering if anyone can identify this little guy or gal for me. Image and video hosting by TinyPic I'm wondering if it's a female Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It's pretty small, about 4-5 inches, I think. I'm estimating the size based on other birds that have been near it. Ideas or thoughts?

Hopefully you got an ID - it is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

Thanks, it’s good to hear that someone agrees with me. Your photos in the next post are great! I can never get a clear photo of a bird flying.

This was the most recent Birdy thread I could find. Finally found a hosting site that is free and fast. Took this picture a few hours ago, male pileated at our suet,. They are regular visitors but very shy and we are always lucky to get a picture.
