Yes, the view from the east-southeast toward Quaker Gap was much more pronounced. That photo is from the Eatons Church area of Pinnacle on the Pilot Mountain side.
Bad part about Army radio school at Ft Huachuca in the sixties was if you were in the last classes before poles from many prior classes were due to be replaced. That summer sun dried the poles horribly and with all the spike damage from other classes you were lucky to have a spike actually embed and take weight.
