This isn’t the first time the wrong envelope was handed to an Oscar presenter and the incorrect winner announced.
In 1964, Best Music Score presenter Sammy Davis Jr. ticked off the contenders for the category, then opened the winner’s envelope he was given — and announced a name who hadn’t even been mentioned in the group.
There was polite applause, then Davis was told of the mistake.

Price Waterhouse seems to have a idiot-proof method in place to distribute the Oscars.
Unfortunately, Hollywood continues degenerating and always manages to produce better idiots...
