One of the finalists for the post of solicitor general has withdrawn rather than dip his toe into the toxic stew that Senate Democrats have made of confirmation process.

Chuck Cooper said Thursday he no longer wishes to be considered for the post. His withdrawal leaves George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, as the only remaining finalist.

The solicitor general represents the government in cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Week old news, but interesting nonetheless, IMHO. The Dem's and the Left are showing that they do not know the meaning of working together and giving someone a chance.

But, Trump should wait for a recess and appoint the guy, anyway. Use the same dirty tricks that obama used and shove in their faces. With the way they've been acting and their supporters raising all sorts of problems, around the country, 2018 has the potential to be an utter bloodbath for the Left.

2018 is an interesting question. Can the welfare class maintain this artificial rage for two years? Or will they get bored with nonstop politics and not bother showing up at all in the next election?

Is George Conway worth waiting for? I know nothing about him, except that he is KellyAnn’s husband. The Obama Admin. also had it’s share of nepotism. There was a lot of intermingling between the government and the media. They never addressed or apologized for it either.

Based on what I saw in Wisconsin with Scott Walker (VERY different personalities, but plenty of good parallels). the anti-Trumpers WILL show up, but people who are ordinarily not-engaged will also show up against the agitators. The Rasmussen approval ratings are bearing this out.

Yeah, but they’re not going to do recess appointments until after Gorsuch is approved IMO.
That’s a long time away.

I’m pretty sure Gorsuch will be confirmed by late March. They can yell, holler and scream but he WILL be confirmed. And, I would not be surprised to see President Trump get at least another 2 before the end of his first term. I think that’s a big part of why the left is squealing.

Yeah, or early April at the latest. People are getting impatient with the delays on appointments, but there’s a deal to get Gorsuch through- with Dem votes- if the Dems are allowed their Kabuki show. Again, just my opinion.

Thanks to Reid the Dems can't stop any appointments. Should be no reason to wait for a recess.
