Can anyone recommend a cheap phone plan

Posted on 02/06/2017 5:01:56 PM PST by MNDude

Hi, I'm looking at selecting a new phone plan, and I'm wondering if any Freepers know about any good plans.

I'm open to Android or iPhone, and hoping for a no-contract.

Any recommendations?

How much are you going to use the phone and data? I have a $20/quarter TracFone for emergencies (my smart phone uses Sprint’s network, so it is out of range if more than a hundred feet from an interstate).

Do you want a prepaid plan or pay month to month? Willing to sign a 2 year contract?

Trakphone (various networks) or PagePlus which runs on Verizon’s network have good plans for about $30/Mo. Walmart has them both.

I use one called “Straight Talk Wireless”. It uses the near by Verizon tower but has a converter which lets me plug in my old telephone and use it just as if it was wired.

It costs $16.71 per month and that includes tax. Unlimited calling but no other service. It works fine.

I have been using Virgin Mobile for many years. It is very cheap at $35 month unlimited text and data, no contract. You can buy the phones on Amazon or Walmart and have a lot of great options. Samsung J3 is a very nice modern phone for around $90! Hard to beat.

Can you give more details of what you need?

Such as:

How much phone / text / data do you need?

Are you providing your own phone?

I use Pageplus cellular—it is non-contract / pay-as-you-go. Pageplus uses the Verizon network so the coverage is very good. I provide my own phone. I pay $27 per month (on autopay) for 1.5 gb data, 1500 talk, unlimited text.
