Not just woods and trees, I’ve seen a black friend run screaming from a duck and a squirrel (not at the same time).
It’s not just the forest, you never see a black person at a museum (unless it’s dedicated to MLK or the “African-American experience) or a Civil War battlefield.
They do seem to like the beach though.
Our neighbor (Black) would rather work on his car then go fishing with us.
Are we suppose to haul him out there by his hair?
If we do then he probably won't fix the car for us again.
Google “basketball magazines” and check images. How many white faces are on the covers? Do the same on “hockey magazines” and notice the difference.
Is the problem that the outdoor industry is overly-represented by white men, or that the industry is failing in its marketing to non-whites? Surely they realize that certain pastimes and activities can be tied to a culture, and they might not appeal to that many people outside that culture. That doesn’t mean that it can’t change, but it also doesn’t mean that there is a problem.
The National Park Service claims it has a problem with non-whites not being interested in visiting their sites. (Actually the numbers of white vs minority visitors pretty much matches up with how those groups are represented in the population.) Is anyone keeping minorities away? I take it they are just interested in doing other things. I visited the Pullman National Monument in a black neighborhood in Chicago, and saw only white visitors while I was there.
Why not just set aside the best outdoor lands for our minorities? It is just not fair white people should be enjoying themselves so much!

Same agenda in a backpacking magazine I bought - they had to insert that angle into every single column and article.
