Will Rogers had an uncle who was tried for murder before Judge Parker. Killed a deputy—a former Texas Ranger—with a double barrel shotgun in broad daylight and claimed self defense. His father bailed him out of jail. Clement V. Rogers was the last elected Cherokee Chief before Oklahoma statehood. And he never met a man he didn’t like? It wasn’t like True Grit.
