Chargers shouldn't look for a welcome wagon in L.A.
LA Times ^ | January 11, 2017 | Bill Plaschke

Eery relationship is built on honesty, so the San Diego Chargers should hear this as their moving vans are chugging up the 5 Freeway on their noble mission of greed.

We. Don’t. Want. You.

The news broke Wednesday that Chargers owner Dean Spanos has informed NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell he is moving the team to Los Angeles, which is pretty much dreadful news for Los Angeles.

I have a feeling unless the LA Rams bring in Nick Saban the loaded USC Trojans might be the biggest football draw for the 2017 season.

There was a reason the NFL left LA in the first place. Now, they get to remind themselves of that reason.

The hot shot college coach to pro thing usually doesn’t work out. The Rams’ own John Robinson was mediocre as coach, and Steve Spurrier don’t live up to billing. John McKay did okay with the Bucs, given his #1 bust in Ricky Bell and an overall poor expansion team he had to build.

I think Spanos just wants to park his team in LA until he can scam some unlucky city into a stadium deal.

Only the NHL going back for a third try in Atlanta would be a worse decision.

So what does San Diego even have for a professional sports team anymore? The Padres?

Good move for those of us, who would like to see pro football just fade away after making bad decision everyday like the Former Niners.

Makes no sense. Spanos has to fork over $650 million for the “privilege” of playing second fiddle to the Rams and a tenant in their new stadium. Surely he could have used that money for a downtown stadium next to PetCo a la Seattle or even Detroit.

The Houston Rockets of the NBA used to be the San Diego Rockets, from 1967 to 1971.

It wasn’t because of lack of attendance, although everyone here thinks it was.

Good point! Why would any city pass up the opportunity to have a “subway series” Super Bowl? besides, they can trade players every other year and they won’t have to move their houses!

Winnipeg. They are the "new" Jets. The "old" Jets are the Arizona Coyotes, who are always on the verge of moving again.

The oriinal Jets were one of the four WHA franchises to join the NHL. I think three of the four (Jets, Nordiques, Whalers) hve moved since then.
