Jerry Sandusky's sex abuse scandal is costing the Penn State almost a quarter million dollars almost half a decade after the former assistant coach was arrested for child molestation.

The Associated Press reports the college has reached $237million, including a recent $12 million verdict in the whistleblower and defamation case brought by former assistant coach Mike McQueary.

The university has also settled with 33 people who alleged they were sexually abused by Sandusky. Penn State paid out $93 million in damages.

That would be billion with a “B” not million with an “M”.

Just saying, correct the headline.

Typo in the headline.

My heroes growing up were Pete Rose and Joe Paterno. They made their own beds and you can’t undo what they did(n’t) do.

Far more than that in contributions. Heck Paterno alone would have given a couple of million dollars if he had not been back stabbed.

After what happened they should turn that University into a car park. This whole thing was disgusting.

It appears that they don't teach math in British schools these days.

almost a quarter million dollars

Only $250,000.00? No wonder they lost, if that's all they spend on lawyers. Maybe they meant a quarter of a billion?

the college has reached $237million

Nope, I guess not. That's more, not almost, a quarter of a billion.

Morgana has the headline exactly as the DM wrote it.

DM is using the UK version of the amount, fyi.

FR rules frown upon changing headlines, btw.

That’s more like it! I still can’t get over that he was allowed to keep his damn pension.

“I’ve never blown the whistle on anyone yet, and I never will.”......Joe Paterno on NCAA Violations in the Sports Illustrated issue, June 10th 1974, page 88. He knew damn well what was going on with Sandusky.....but he was not gonna say a word.

Where’s the dude who kept playing violins and sobbing over Sandusky while claiming a conspiracy to “Get JoePa!!1!” ??
He posted a thread where buried within were truly disgusting attempts to excuse and whitewash Sandusky all while claiming above mentioned “conspiracy”.. he was entertaining.

I was in no way criticizing you. I understand that the headline isn’t yours.
Apologies if my comment wasn’t clear on that.

the UK version of the amount

Britain's money does not differ from ours by a factor of 1,000. (2 pounds to a dollar is a quick conversion factor that is within the typical annual variance.) The DM just made a flat-out error.

A quarter of a million? That’s nothing! May they all die in an iron ring.
