Pol Pot might hold the record for most effective mass murderer of the 20th century. His regime resulted in the death of 1 in 4 Cambodians.

Disagree. The key word in the phrase "studying in Paris" is not "Paris".

It's the radicalization of students by radical leftist faculty over the past century - whether in Paris or anywhere else in the world - that has caused mankind so much grief.

And it's still accelerating today.

Where do you put Malthus and Darwin on the food chain?

“Agree. His new name is Smoke Pot.”

Add to your list: Mousie Dung for a ‘famous’ Chinese leader...

Well, Malthus has no real Paris connection, but I put him at the bottom, as a progenitor of both Sanger and Paul Ehrlich. He and Ehrlich were both hilariously wrong about effects of population growth on famine rates. Margaret Sanger and Lothrop Stoddard took the next step of wanting to control the population growth, restricting it to desirable gene pools, which ties in with Darwin, whom I also put near the bottom.

And just like I have issues with Descartes but appreciate his contributions to mathematics, I can still accept Malthus’ legitimate contributions to demography and still consider his underlying philosophy as being sordid.

All Anglo-sphere leftists. Modern leftism has 3 different strains or roots: Anglo-leftism descended from the Puritans, French leftism descended from the revolution and Catholicism, and Marxism who can be traced back to a combination of French revolution, German Lutheran, and Jewish roots. After the fall of the Soviet Union and China’s embrace of capitalism only Anglo-leftism continued thus most of the leftists in the world converted to it.

Don't know off the top of my head. Of course, as Paris was both a major cultural and academic center of Europe for hundreds of years, both good guys and bad guys would have spent time being formed or wielding influence there.

I just made a quick look at an off-handed comment, and there was more there than I expected. My research on behalf of this topic is finished for now.

“...changing the name of Cambodia to Kampuchea”

More FAKE NEWS. They didn’t change the name to Kampuchea, they changed it to “Democratic Kampuchea”, just to rub some more salt into the survivors of the 3 million people they killed.

...of which virtually no American would have any clue, had the movie “The Killing Fields” not come out - thanks to our media ALWAYS glossing over the genocides caused by COMMUNISTS.

Ironically it was the Communist Vietnamese that got rid of Pol Pot.

Two thriving Communist regimes with urges to expand existing right next to each other spells trouble for one of them....

Further proof, that all evil movements in history have one common denominator, Paris.

Starting with the Paris Commune during the French Revolution.
