he Orange County Fire Authority told CBS2 riders got trapped when the Sky Cabin stalled about 130 feet in the air just before 5 p.m. Emergency crews were responding to the park to conduct a technical rescue.

“What we’re gonna do right now is formulate a plan on exactly how to bring them down,” Capt. Larry Kurtz told CBS2.

The OCFA had four technical rescue trucks on scene. The ride is enclosed and the guests all appeared to be safe, Kurtz said.

We went there frequently when I was a young lad, before they had to put up a fence to keep out the hippies. I’d be in my cowboy hat, boots, chaps and holster with cap gun.

I was at Knott’s only once, in 1976; back then, the future of CA seemed still limitless, but I guess it was already in moral shrinkage.

I wonder if they still have the parachutes? Toss them down from a chopper!

Seems odd to have the rescuers “figure out a plan”. I would think that would have been considered before anyone was able to hit the “on” button for the first time.

“So Captain - I was thinking maybe we could use a rope or something and...wait - how old is the inspection sticker on that fire extinguisher in the corner!?”

And that is why I never, ever, never stand downwind of any of the ultra fright type rides, roller coasters, whips, etc.

"Here! Just climb out to this ladder. We'll get you down!"

Uh, huh.

And four others had black bean burritos for lunch.

Years ago at the central FL fairgrounds tilt-a-whirl, a rider let loose with explosive vomit, wiping out everyone within 20 feet. I was thankfully out of range.

Same here. I used to like to feed the seals, before they had to get rid of them because hippies would put drugs on thier food so they could watch the poor animals trip out.

Loved the stagecoach, train and Liberty Hall. Remember the gold mining? And those Model T’s you could drive?

Rescue should be dependent upon whether they are conservatives or from the dark side! ;-)
