Don’t repeal ACA without a plan to immediately replace it (Editorial column, from the Miami Herald)
Miami Herald ^ | December 26, 2016 | By MIRIAM HARMATZ

I tried posting a link to the Bloomberg article listed on the Drudgereport, but that was immediately deleted.

So here is a similar article. The original article was to describe the new GOP effort to repeal (and NOT replace) Obamacare.

Just for discussion.

I for one, am not for a flat-our repeal of Obamacare, I believe the GOP needs to be aware, and REPLACE Obamacare with something which covers those with previous conditions, who have maintained coverage at all times.

I know there is a lot of opposition to this position, but I firmly believe the GOP would be royally shooting themselves in the foot, if they go after Obamacare without making something to fix the problems, which were behind the changes.

That said, here is the post, just for discussion: http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/editorials/article123452674.html

Personally, I think that the GOP should allow ObamaCare to collapse under its own weight. It’s coming. JMO.

Why do you insist on having the Federal Government involved in our healthcare?

They have had a plan for bridging those with coverage under this disaster till a new plan is in effect.

This is all the typical lies and propaganda to scare the mindless who havent a clue about anything.

Dont hear them talking about what they intend to do about the shortage of doctors as a result of obastardcare now do we? Or about how many small rural medical facilities that have closed their doors as a result, do we?

They can repeal this piece of s*&t fully and implement a free market plan and nobody will notice anything.

Whether the ACA is flatout repealed, or replaced with something else, those in Congress who voted for the ACA should be held accountable and their reputations flushed down the toilet.

Because there are millions of Americans, who WERE NOT COVERED previously, because insurance companies will not cover those with any pre-existing conditions.

That means, you get sick, and later lose your job, you are royally scr*wed.

95 million Americans are not working.

That number is still growing.

I agree to some extent...Make the Dims that voted for it hear from their irate constituents in till the Dims beg to change it for fear of being voted out of office...

NO! to accede to the need to ‘replace’ it means that there is some consensus and agreement that Government OWES healthcare to anyone. That patently is not a requirement of our Constitution - it is a bastardized claim perpetrated on us by liberals.

FREEDOM! Freedom of choice by individuals, freedom of insurance companies willing to offer coverage for a fee, freedom that isn’t hogtied by federal regulations dictating coverage limitations and areas of operation (e.g., across state lines).

These bleaters can bray all they want. It doesn’t mean they have to be listened to. Medicaid was there before Obamacare, and it can be there afterwards.

Well, maybe we outta follow what Robert the smurf Reich said. “You get sick, and we are gonna let you die.”

That is what Obastardcare amounts to.

I personally have lost 4 doctors as a result of this crap. AND cant find another since the rest are not taking ANY new clients.

Government is already hugely involved.

American healthcare is huge, it is massively regulated, and it is VERY EXPENSIVE.

Our government needs to get the heck out of regulating everything about healthcare.

But until they do, they need to do something about those who are not covered.

No other country in the entire world, has such expensive healthcare as America.

Nobody else.

Anywhere.

Further..you might want to explain to me why my wife has to wait 2-3 months now to see a Docotor? It is doing exactly what they wanted. So, to get immediate healthcare, you have to go to urgent care nowdays.

Y’know, insurance is not a charity, right?
It is gambling - you bet you get will get ill within certain parameters, and the insurance company, within those parameters, bets you will not, or that your premium will be enough to cover to those expenses.
Pre-existing conditions means that the insurance company automatically loses.
Don’t know what we need, but that needs to be considered.

There will be an immediate replacement — the market. If allowed to work properly, everyone will have better healthcare and better insurance options.

Repeal first, replace later.

Obamacare would collapse if they simply eliminated the personal and employer mandates.

I can understand why people with "pre-existing conditions" would want to maintain their insurance coverage, but there are two basic flaws with that:

1. There is simply no place for it in any Federal law.

2. It is making insurance unaffordable for many people, and is driving insurers out of the medical insurance business. What exactly is gained under these conditions?

The so-called “coverage” is so expensive it can’t be used. In the meantime MILLIONS MORE who preciously had perfectly acceptable and affordable health care have been priced out of the market and now have health care THEY can’t use either.

Liberalism: distributing misery equally for generations.

Nothing would be infinitely better than this scam but if I had to do something it would be the elimination of constraints of insurance companies to compete for business in other states.
