“Dissing”? No; just your technique for arguing for language debasement.

Oh, you mean by providing supporting documentation from experts rather than stating my personal opinion as fact?

Debasing the language?

“for Arguing for language debasement” ...That is your argument, framed to your liking (with no supporting evidence for your argument). From what I read, few share your opinion...

I suggested you watch the video—I have taught English, and I found it interesting and thought that you might as well. If you had looked at the video or perhaps read my post, you would be aware that the term “snuck” came into English language in the 1800s—and no mention was made of the word “snuck” as an attempt to debase language~certainly not a tool of “Commie Core.”

As Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.”

Language is constantly evolving—the use of the term “snuck” is not debasing English, it is a part of a language changing over time. As I said, it seems you just don’t want to admit that your initial and subsequent premises might be incorrect and that none of this has anything to do with debasing the language or “Commie Core.”

This is the kind of things boys do. You try to restrain them, and helps, but they have this aggressive bravado which is so charming yet so deadly. Poor kids. Could have been one of mine.

They grow up to be great men, if they do grow up.

Sorry for the pedantry, but that is not a word; sneaked is. Just like drug is a noun (meaning a mind-altering substance) and not the past tense of the verb drag.

I blame The Grinch.

The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote,
"Stink, stank, stunk"!

I rode my Honda 90 through K Mart in Manchester, CT when it was being built. When 384 was finished but but officially opened, my friends used it as a dragway. Surprised I’m alive...

Did you look up the definition of “ad verecundiam”?

Even the climate change merchants can show you “supporting documentation”.

Hopping the fence for a midnight snow tubing ride down the landing ramp of the 100 meter ski jump in Iron Mountain is a super rush...or so I’ve heard.

I think a better, and more appropriate word, is “trespassed”.

I know what it means...

I disagree with pretty much everything you have stated. You have a right to your opinion, and clearly we will never agree.

Have a nice evening.

LOL Well, the Merriam Webster editor said they did not know exactly how the work “snuck” snuck into the English language...perhaps it was Snucky from Jersey Shore ;)

"....look to me like a preliminary run of Commie Core."

Looks like you're the ill informed one...

Sneaked or Snuck: What’s the Difference?

The History of Snuck

Snuck is an American creation dating back 1800s ¹ as a nonstandard, regional variant of sneaked.

It was met first with widespread condemnation, but snuck has, with each passing generation, become more and more widespread in its use.

In fact, the below chart shows just how popular it has become in the United States, being used with almost equal frequency as the traditional sneaked.

sneaked out and sneaked in grammar rules

More ad verecundiam by citing a website that emerged in the last month of 2014, which reinforces my supposition of Commie Core in that respect.

And ad hominem this time, but I forgive that, especially since the chart does note the popularity of snuck being directly proportional to the increase of liberalism in the USA—but with the traditional form sneaked fighting back.

Please understand that ultimately I am taking umbrage with the media’s use of the so-called non-standard form of the word.

That’s fair, but I hope you understand my position on the media using such forms. They are supposed to be reporting the news, not writing novels that one would expect colloquialisms in. You have a good Christmas and New Year too.

Using your logic, any site that created after a date determined by you that publishes data dating back in time is promoting Commie Core because it's a new site. Using that logic, FreeRepublic must be a Commie Core site because it was hatched in 1998 therefore anything substantial that appears on it can't be of use because you say so. You've just proven what a complete idiot you are and should just be ignored because you just attack without any proof of what you're saying.

With all due respect, you seem a bit hung up on my focusing on the liberal media’s use of “snuck”, whereupon I already explained several times why.

I do suspect any website that started its existence under the Obama era, especially those purporting to be educational aids, and I look into their “About” sections. As for Merriam-Webster, they have been owned by the Encyclopedia Britannica since before I was born, and the owners seem to have a liberal bias. Comparing FR is an apples/oranges comparison, or whatever contrast one can think of to be stronger than that.

And as for your renewed ad hominem (unprovoked), Merry Christmas to you too.

When I was a teenager my older friend’s husband was burned out on drugs. He always wore a helmet. One night he took many hits of speed with LSD and we were stupid enough to let him drive us to another town. He took a very winding road which had large trees on both sides close to the road lining it for the 20 or so miles to the town. He was driving at over 100 miles an hour. His wife, my two sisters and I were in the car. If we had crashed my poor mom would likely have lost all of her children at one time. None of us were saved Christians at the time, and had we hit one of those big trees we all would have dropped right into hell forever.

I truly thank The LORD that He saved all of us that day.
