BILL MURRAY: OPENING 'CADDYSHACK' THEMED BAR ... Which Is Nice
tmz ^ | 12/20 | tmz

It's not exactly a Cinderella story ... but it's pretty damn cool that Bill Murray is opening a Caddyshack-themed bar in the Windy City! Bill and his 5 brothers are reportedly moving forward with a golf-themed bar in the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont ... according to the Daily Herald. The brothers already have a verbal agreement to take over the space and working on getting everything in writing ... so they can start serving up drinks to Carl Spackler enthusiasts, ASAP.

so after all this time Murray now thinks it is a good idea. I assume he got the rights to use the name of the movie.

If it’s a golf themed bar with all aspects of golf being displayed, including Caddyshack, I can see it being a success.

But if it’s just a Caddyshack bar, not many people can relate to a movie that is almost 40 years old.

didn’t know brother created the movie:

“Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant
Menu
All-American Cuisine

It all started in Chicago

The Murray brothers grew up on the North Shore of Chicago. Their parents, Ed and Lucille Murray raised nine children in a sweet little house on a leafy street in Wilmette, Illinois. As teenagers, “the boys spent their summers working as caddies at the local private country club; it was that experience that inspired Brian Doyle Murray to write the classic golf comedy, Caddyshack. Many of the brothers participated in the making of the movie and can be found standing around in some of the funniest scenes.

In 2001, actor comedian Bill Murray and his five brothers – chef Andy, actors Brian, Joel and John, and financial executive Edward opened Murray Bros. Caddyshack® at World Golf Village, St. Augustine, Florida.”

But if it’s just a Caddyshack bar, not many people can relate to a movie that is almost 40 years old.

The movie does enjoy cult-like status among its fans. However, I doubt that many young people have seen it. I saw it once when it came out. I thought it was "just OK", and have pretty much forgotten it. Its fans still refer to it and quote from it like it was released yesterday.

He could open a Caddyshack-themed excavation company — “The world needs ditch diggers, too.”

Pretty cool. Watched the movie just the other night - first time in years. Still holds up.

Not Bill’s first attempt. Some years back he and his brothers opened “Eat Drink and be Murry” in St Augustine, FL. A cold beer and burger stop, but I liked it.

I’ve been to the one in FL near the World Golf Hall of Fame. Pretty standard fare, but some cool Caddyshack memorabilia.

“But if it’s just a Caddyshack bar, not many people can relate to a movie that is almost 40 years old.”
I don’t know about that. A couple of years ago I kept seeing a decal on the back window of cars of some old grey haired bearded man. I didn’t know who the heck it was. I’m 52, so fairly up to date on topics, but could not figure that one out.
So down the hall to the millennial kids office asking who the heck is the old guy sticker I see around town?
It’s Bill F’n Murray he says. Bill Murray, caddy shack? Why the heck would anyone put a decal of that old fart on their car?
Oh well, he has a big following for Chivas Regal, and who knows what else.
