City Council speaker to Cuomo: Shield undocumented immigrants from Donald Trump

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito is pushing Gov. Cuomo and legislative leaders for statewide policies to shield undocumented immigrants from enforcement under President-elect Donald Trump.

In a letter sent Sunday, Mark-Viverito said the state should refuse to spend any money assisting federal immigration enforcement and refuse to honor detainer requests, which are federal requests to hold unauthorized immigrants who have been arrested and turn them over for possible deportation.

The city already has such a policy, which Mark-Viverito said should now go statewide.

“New York should protect its immigrant communities throughout the State with a coordinated and comprehensive policy that would limit the State’s involvement in harsh federal immigration Enforcement,” she said in the letter to Cuomo and Democratic and Republican leaders of the Assembly and Senate.

“New York should ensure that immigration enforcement does not take place in schools, courthouses, hospitals or offices where New Yorkers apply for public benefits or seek shelter.”

Legislators in California have introduced legislation that would prohibit immigration enforcement in so-called “safe zones,” including schools, hospitals and courts, and bar the state from using public dollars to assist with deportations. The speaker said New York should follow suit.

“With the election of Donald Trump, immigrant New Yorkers face a new and even more serious threat. The President-elect has made his anti-immigrant views clear and has repeatedly stated his intention to conduct mass deportations,” she wrote. “Given the new threat, we all need to do more.”

Cuomo has announced plans to create a public-private fund to pay for legal defense for immigrants. A spokesman said the governor’s office will review the letter.

Also Sunday, hundreds of demonstrators marched in honor of International Migrants Day, saying New York should remain a haven for immigrants.

Sara Martinez, an undocumented immigrant from Ecuador living in Brooklyn, came with her 11-year-old daughter Hillary - who was born in the United States and named after Hillary Clinton.

"We are not going anywhere. We live in New York, this is our home,” she said. “My daughter's an American citizen. All of this misinformation and hateful messages, that we are taking your jobs, are wrong. We are creating new jobs…and we are paying our taxes every year.”

Mark-Viverito, the unbelievably ugly hag who is head of the NYC City Council of Thugs, should be forced to register as a foreign agent. Really. About 99.95 of what she has to say or what she advocates has to do with directing NYC tax monies to help Puerto Rico instead of the citizens whose money it is and who expect public services for their tax dollars.

Her lobbying of Cuomo to BREAK THE LAW and make NY state into a haven for illegal criminal invaders really should be enough to throw her ugly rear end into jail for a good long time. She is in good company with libtard Dimmocrap idiots on the city council, as 7 of them just came out and endorsed Bill DiBlASSio for his second run at mayor. This man has been an unmitigated disaster for the city, yet these clowns support him because he is a fellow Dimmocrap. Politics over the welfare of the city, every time.

I find it absolutely nauseating that such corrupt pieces of common filth are elected by even more stupid ignoramuses who vote on the basis of skin color and ethnicity rather than looking at facts, and that people who DO vote on the basis of facts, such as myself, are being screwed over by the former. My taxes, sky-high, are going to subsidize the illegal lifestyles of people who have no right to even be here--their stolen housing subsidy, their stolen public education, their stolen food, their stolen medical care, and their stolen legal help. We are fools, footing the bill for these illiterates who contribute little to the city but more mouths to feed and more demands for more freebies.

I fervently hope that Donald Trump cleans out this nest of roaches. Taxpayer monies for taxpayer services! Not to support illegals and endless generations of welfare cheats!

When conservatives want to disobey laws the left adores, the left does not give any quarter. They send armed agents and fine and jail them, or just murder them.

Sanctuary State?

Don’t want to spend state resources to help DHS with rounding up illegals?

Fine, Congress can levy a direct tax on state legislatures to pay for the federal effort to do what a Sanctuary State refuses to do.

Trump needs to clean out all of these illegals before the next U.S. Census. Congressional representation is based upon the number of people counted, not the number of citizens counted. That would mean havens for illegals like New York and California would receive greater representation and with that greater federal funding. This needs to start Day One.

Under POTUS Trump, ALL federal monies should be withheld from NYC until they comply with ALL legal requests from federal authority. Pinko heads will explode.

Build the WALL first. Then we can discuss who stays, who goes and when.

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT THE ISSUE....
ILLEGALS ARE THE ISSUE.... BIG DIFFERENCE

and someone should enlighten this jerk of two important things..

CUOMO IS UNDER FED CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION
NY STATE NEEDS FED FUNDS OR FACES BANKRUPTCY

IF COUMO RAISES TAXES HE CAN GET AN UBER JOB

C'mon, most of them are willing workers, unlike our own homegrown hoodrats and trailer-trash methheads. I'd gladly swap head for head with their countries of origin; they take one of ours for each of theirs we keep! And frankly, they'd be foolish to not take the available help. Our own rules, so that's on us. Change the rules.

Congressional representation is based upon the number of people counted, not the number of citizens counted.

That is a VERY good point. The census should be based on citizens, not illegal criminals hiding out in our midst with the help of willing conspirators like Jerry Brown, Cuomo, and the rectum of politicians, deBlASSio.

For those of you who said they'd trade our meth heads and ghetto trash for "hard working illegals", what about the cost of bilingual teachers for students who don't even belong here in the first place? What about the cost of telephone systems who have to state "for Spanish, press 2", which I find an infuriating waste of my time in my own country? What about the cost of having all these manuals, brochures, documents in Spanish and English? What about the cost of emergency room visits made because there was no family doctor, and the gross inconvenience of legitimately critically ill people having to wait hours for care because of it? What about the cost of diseases introduced into this country by this unvaccinated reservoir of foreign diseases and parasites for which we have no natural resistance, having not been previously exposed? Do we really need to import more gang members with drug ties? How many cheap pizzas is it worth to you?
