we had an old Sears stereo system (”Hi-Fi Set”) that folded up like a suitcase when not in use. The speakers detached and extended on wire about 4 feet on each side for “Full Stereophonic Sound!” as it proudly proclaimed.
The stereo arm with the needle (”stylus”) was a big, heavy chunk o’plastic... I’m SURE it gouged the records every time we played them.
I actually still have all the Christmas albums my Mom and Dad had. This was one of them. My copy is a bit beat up, a little scratchy, but still playable.
Better music, from a better time...

Bing had the voice, for sure. And Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Perry Como...
From a day when music was more about TALENT and CLASS and less about screaming and “rapping” and acting like an idiot on stage and calling it entertainment.
