Not so terribly long ago and probably not far from where you’re posting today, there were these things called “General Stores” and “Mercantiles” where goods of every kind were sold: food, clothing, fabric, hardware, etc. Guns were usually found in the “Hardware” section and you could even buy ammunition by the round since there were times when some folks couldn’t afford a full box but still needed to fill the stew pot.
I know a gun store in albuquerque that sells loose ammo by the round. Pistol and rifle ammo. I suppose some folks only want 5 or 6 rounds for a revolver or a few rounds for a bolt action rifle. So your post is correct.
I was in Myrtle Point, OR a couple of days ago. Went into a hardware store I haven’t been in in at least 15 years. They’ve grown a lot and I saw a shotgun and then noticed a handgun case, and then, holy crap, a couple of SBRs im an AR platform. I’m old enough to remember when any hardware store worthy of the name had firearms for sale. But when I think supermarket, I think Safeway. It’s all you can do to ne escorted out of Bi-mart with a long gun without disapproving looks from some...be they ninnies or felons.(Maybe some of it goes back to that; should felons be in stores where firearms are sold? As a matter of law ....frankly. if they’re not locked up, fine. )The local Fred Meyer went from having just an ammo case in the 90’s to discontinuing that, and now has a full- blown gun department. The K-mart in town discontinued firearm sales and went TU before they could reverse the decision, not that they would have. All of this to say I approve of the trend, but am still surprised at times. And kudos are probably grudgingly due to POTUS, so, thanks, skidmark Now get lost.
oh ouch,
That’s gotta hurt.
(and so what if it is old,(it’s entertainment)
I’m so *sick* [as in deranged] I chuckle, even when I think about it. >8-)
Arizona Supermarkets = ATF = Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. And I’m now seeing them stock Tannerite, a popular explosive used by target shooters.
Okay, so you probably have to go to the gun store next door to the grocery store, but I think you get the idea...
