I’m going into Hibernation Mode, though I do have two rosemary plants under lights to baby through the winter, and I started a fresh batch of sprouts this morning.
I still have KALE if anyone needs some, LOL!
Attentions are turning to Christmas Baking, now. Cookie Day os December 10th at my Mom’s. We bake until we can’t stand it anymore, then fill her pool table (covered!) with our cookies, then fill up containers for gifts. We always have enough left over to donate to Mom’s church for their free holiday meal for those in need.
It’s a great way to end the year. :)
Succulents are all the rage these days. I had a hard time keeping them in stock at the Garden Center. Really nice presentation!
That’s great - to make it past 90 in this country. My great grandmother on my Dad’s side made it to ninety something.
My paternal grandmother was 84 and grand dad was 79. My maternal grandfather was 56 and grand mother was 80.
Mom was 79 and Dad was 84. So I don’t figure that I’ll ever reach 90, but hope that I’m wrong. LOL
Remind me again which state you are in.
I like your attitude. Even snow is wet. Glad you got some rain finally. I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do to keep my feet warm this winter.
It seems like they get colder with each passing year. I’ve been using a heated rice sock. If we were building this house today, I would put heated floor in this basement family room area.
It sounds like a lot of fun. Christmas is kinda dull around here, since our oldest daughter moved out of state, and all but one of the grandkids are grown and have lots of inlaws to visit.
Last year we didn’t get together until a week after Christmas, and Christmas day was just me and Hubby. We haven’t nailed down our celebration day yet for this year.
We’re kind of scattered, too. It’ll be just me and Beau, mostly. We’ll have Christmas with his side of the family on the evening of the 23rd, and my faily sometime in January.
I love Christmas, though...I’ve had the house decorated since the day after Thanksgiving and it gets to stay up until mid-January if I’m lucky. :)
I love the season too, but I don’t do much decorating, since I don’t have any kids to do it with. My main thing is listening to the music, and I have a few knick knacks and candles that I put out which doesn’t take very long.
Yuck. Hate to see these critters, and they do seem to be able to flatten and crawl under the doors. Now that I don’t have a dog, I put down rat poison under the cabinets-just in case they don’t get caught by the traps.
So nice.
A friend had one chew the wiring under the hood of her car and it cost over $2,000 to fix as it shorted out some circuit boards. They will also chew on the wiring in older homes and be careful Poisoning them and have them die in a wall where they will stink for a long while. (That happened to us)
I took advantage of the nice weather and went to the neighbor lady's stable. Brought home a trailer load of stall waste and unloaded it on the kitchen garden.
And then this morning Mother Nature gave me the day off, so we went to what's left of my Grandparents' farm and cut a red cedar to use for a Christmas tree.
Southeast Virginia, on the coast. Since I last posted, the temperatures have taken a downward spiral. Think I’ll plant those daffy bulbs soon.
I always enjoy your photos Augie...
I know that can happen, but I keep the vicks vaporub handy just in case. LOL
Thanks for the pics. We have had cold rain all day here. I keep heating up the rice socks in the microwave to keep my feet warm.
Invert the cone-shaped cages, tie them to tomato stakes and wrap a few strings of lights around them. The more lights the merrier. Makes for some pretty yard decorations.
I need to try that!!!
Thanks for the picture and idea. Very pretty and nifty.
