Well, it is the Guardian after all, most of whose staff believe the Castro should be a candidate for sainthood and never mind the dead bodies. Think of the worst, most abusive activities of which all the U.S. Presidents were ever even accused in their pages and you'll find no hint that Castro accomplished them all single-handedly.

Frankly I don't give a rip what any leftwing Brits or any Cubans either think about Trump's categorization of one of the last of the monsters of the 20th century. Every word was the truth. That stands on its own.

Simply stated, the term “dictator” does not have negative connotations for hard-core Socialists and Communists, most of whom gloss over the historical record of their heinous crimes against humanity. To these people “dictator” must always be preceded by the word “benevolent”.
