That’s what they will get him on, not the speeding. In Texas and other states, LE has to prove the vehicle was going as fast as the ticket was issued. No way they can PROVE he was doing a 208MPH, but, on officer testimony, he can/will be convicted of reckless and eluding.
in my youth I took a ‘67 mustang coupe to 115 (stock 289) and the thing started “floating”... so I cautiously reduced speed. Dang, that was a weird feeling!
Must be one of those Assault-Mustangs.
I understand. I’m a Mechanical Engineer. One of my friends has a 2013 that’s done over 190 at Daytona, not too heavily modified. And the aerodynamics of a Mustang are pretty good, by the way.
A discussion of the Mustang in question:

And there is no way a highway patrol vehicle could catch him.
A lot of you folks need to get out more. Ford sells the Shelby Mustang with over 700 HP from the factory.
The 176 is easily doable. The 208 is possible. However, he would probably have to remove some electronic governors to do that.
A Ford? 208 MPH? BS.
I wonder what tires the Ford had. At 208 mph, they won't last very long, and losing one at that speed would ruin your day...

122mph on bias-ply tires - now that’s living on the edge!
I think of it kind of like reaching the speed of light. The power curve needed goes hyperbolic.
In the early 1970's, I - rather foolishly - pegged the 150 MPH speedometer in a big-block B-body Mopar. The car wasn't bone stock, but it wasn't "trick" either, and people assured me that the aerodynamics of that particular car wouldn't allow that kind of speed. So when classmates talked about it, I always equivocated, not knowing if the speedo was that far off or not, or whether the larger-than-stock tires were fudging numbers, or... whatever.
One thing I can say with certainty is that it was a boneheaded thing to have done, and the brakes/shocks/ tires/steering etc of the day were not up to such malarkey.

off of you link here is a 208 MPH Hennesy Mustang 25th Anniversary edition.

Whatever you say.
I think you are vastly underestimating the amount of additional horsepower required to increase a vehicle’s top speed form 176 mph to 208 mph.
This could be a Saleen model.
It is deer breeding season in Oklahoma.
That would have been a shock.
Yup. Still, there's no amount of money to entice me to push the envelope on a public road. The drivetrain may handle it, but the road surface and suspension are another story.
At even half that speed you twitch wrong or hit a significant dip in the road and it's airborne city, a ride that usually ends when you come into contact with a tree or other solid surface. When I was young I worked as an insurance adjuster and had to visit my share of fatal auto accident scenes. I saw that scenario many a time. The Datsun 280-Z was famous for this and I visited at least a half dozen airborne Datsun fatal accident scenes over the space of two years. Corvettes too. Most all of them were hitting a dip in the road or going over the high side of a curve at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Very bad scene.
