Nope. I’m aware it is not a liner slope.

Not really personal on the post to you. Several had made comments and were talking about 140 MPH vehicles. Corvettes, Shelby Mustangs, Camaro SS and Hellcats are producing some monstrous horsepower straight from the factory floor.

Like I said, 175 I can believe. The 208 would be really iffy. It would NOT be a factory car. Electronics reprogramming and some more robust hardware would be required.

Other big impediments would be pavement conditions and traffic.

A coworker has a modified Lingenfelter Z06 vette that will do 205 mph all day on a bad day. Fastest I’ve ever been on the ground.....We have a few “remote” long wide farm to market roads near where we work that are so good they could double as a runway for aircraft. Great for such poor boy “Texas Mile” wannabe attempts.

Crazy fun.

Wonder if the driver has now taken his last joyride... and if there’s any HINT of drugs in the car... it’ll be confiscated.

If that car will really do 208, the cops want it. Bad.

Owned same ride in 78 , 280Z had 160mph on the speedometer and on a long lone Kansas highway when stationed at McConnell AFB got to 150 and the front end got lite and I never did such again. Stationed in europe on the autobahns and autostradas 150mph was cruise speed. Soccer Moms in mercedes station wagons would routinely flash to pass ....... headlights, not kitty’s.

I took an old Mopar up to 120 in high school. The suspension and brakes weren’t even close to the task. It was barely touching the pavement at speed, then it got a lot worse when we hit the railroad tracks at around 90. Never saw a whiter bunch of white boys.

Took a Mercedes on the autobahn to about 160 and it felt like it was on rails. Cars have come a long way since the old muscle cars.

I had one passenger in the car when I topper her out, and he was more nervous than I was (a rare thing, as he was considered one of the "crazy drivers" in my class).

I love the memories, but I'd never willingly go back to driving the cars I grew up with. There may be too much extraneous crap on most of them, but a mid-level "sporty" sedan of today is generally a safer car to drive, and certainly more "survivable" if things go wrong. Those might have been the "golden years," but a new Mustang or Challenger is a far better car.

That wasn’t a Mustang, it was a Cadillac.

Yeah, you’re right.

I grabbed the wrong one. Hennessey has done 200+ in Corvettes, Mustangs, and now Cadillacs.
