Dude, you stole my post. I was thinking the same two songs. I have Rubberband Man as my alarm tune on my phone.

Then came you with Dionne Warwick is also an excellent song. It’s one of my examples of the tremendous downfall of talented black singers in today’s culture.

They have squandered an awesome legacy and replaced it with soggy porridge.

Heebie Jeebies--The Spinners (1961)

Co-written by Harvey Fuqua, formerly of the 1950's doo-wop group the Moonglows.

Brings back fond memories.

During college, I lived in a dorm that housed most of the basketball team. I was exposed to a lot of Motown and soul, to include the Spinners. Great memories.

The Spinners definitely get my vote for the HOF.

Today they would be require to do rap and calling women Ho’s instead of singing in harmony about love.

“It’s a Shame” is my favorite Spinners song, great guitar opening on that one.

I have in my collection a transcription disc with "get out the vote" advertisements aimed at younger voters for the 1972 election. In one of them, Todd Rundgren announces that he will be running for president in 1984, when he will be old enough to run--in 1972, he was 24.

I think I’ve heard those recordings. Rundgren is quite the humorist at times though I don’t care for his politics
