TOPICS: Business/Economy; Computers/Internet; Society; UFO's
KEYWORDS: drones; faa; safety; uas
From internal email:
"For those affected, the FAA issued a new small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) rule (Part 107) that went into effect on August 29. This rule is simple and easier to understand than the previous versions. We have updated our internal UAS Guidelines and Approval form accordingly. The purpose is ensure compliance with federal regs and promote the safety of College students, staff, property, and reputation. We know of several drones intended for use in Agriculture and Homeland security/public safety programs and anticipate the expansion in other areas as well. Would you please share the guidelines with those groups who might have or use drones? "

Aircraft Requirements • FAA airworthiness certification is not required.

However, the remote pilot in command must conduct a preflight check of the small UAS to ensure that it is in a condition for safe operation.

I work in DC and have some interaction with USSS and the FAA on this issue. This is going to be a tough nut to crack when people like you aren't the problem, but the government just created a bunch of rules for you.

The other three groups involved are the stupid, the obstinate, and the evil. None of those people follow rules.

It also doesn't help when people on the ground misidentify high flying helicopters for drones.

Thank you for caring enough to follow the rules. If the rules aren't working write the FAA or a UAS organization about it.

What I don’t see addressed is if a UAS is hovering above your house...when can it be taken down?

Outside the city limits, let fly. Inside city limits either call for the police or get a cheap quadcopter and go for a mid air.
