The government could, if it had the mind to do so, could declare your friend’s invention ‘National Security’ technology and ban its sale to foreign entities................

It is not my "friend's" invention; he is just a principal in the company. I am not sure what his title in. He was career Marine Corps and helps put on demonstrations. They are of course working with the government and of course they have restrictions on who they can sell their products to. They are already not allowed to sell to just anyone and any sale to a foreign entities would have to be approved. How do you think the Clinton Foundation got all of those donations? Currently, they are working mostly on selling their products to law enforcement agencies and our military. The difficulty is that the departments and the military all have made considerable investments in current technology.

A tree would have been a better test subject for sure, at a minimum you’re going to have some broken ribs.

A lot of people think that Vietnam era flak jackets are “bullet proof vests”, that may be what this was.

Ballistic nylon not Kevlar

As Paul Harvey would say

NOW the REST of the story

Apparently HoseA put the vest on and asked the question.
HoseB pulled the trigger and it ‘stopped’ the bullet.
HoseA said - how can we prove that the vest stopped the bullet.
HoseB said - take off the vest and we will see.

And, that my friends, is how it all came down.

I don’t remember who asked, but it was not a bulletproof vest, it was a flak jacket. I found the article in another forum earlier.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3785900/Man-shot-wearing-flak-jacket-not-bullet-proof-vest.html

Kevlar vest, flak jacket...big difference.
