YES - I have no doubt it is the highly ideological, twisted parents who are, in some quite strong way, indicating to the 3 year old, this is expected of him. 3 year olds follow what adults tell them. Then they go out fishing for public reaction, to prove their victimhood, and are excited they can tell the world when they get a random bite.
I worked for about 5 minutes at a local college. Not only did it verify all of my personal stereotypes and prejudices about liberals, but it also added a few that I'd not thought of yet.
However, far from being delighted, I was frankly disappointed to be correct.

Actually, this type of parenting could be characterized as brewing future problems in momma's nest for a long long time.
This parent is conditioning her very own 'special snowflake' with the proverbial 'safe space' as stated in the article above:
"... will continue to let him wear whatever he wants."
This may satiate this mom's need to nurture and protect her son now while he is relatively cute and manageable at the tender age of 3.
However, enabling and supporting anti-social behaviors also sets her and her son up for some nasty wake-up calls when he reaches puberty and expresses his own interpretations of acceptable behaviors under her roof. I suspect life will be quite volatile in that household in years to come.

Had a pedicure last weekend, just without the polish. Cost less and was more enjoyable than going to the podiatrist. Figured give the nail place a chance to fix my ingrown toenail before having to deal with the doctor.
She did a marvelous job.
