The D's and R's in this country have been in lock-step under Obama taking away our rights one at at time these past nearly 8 years now.........

In the end, we could probably ‘wire out’ the current domain name system and start something from scratch. But entire moountains of data would get deleted along the way.
Or worse: unknown viruses and malware that the NSA has at the ready are unleashed and entire information repositories including those on our own personal PC's and anyplace online are wiped out in a matter of hours.
The only safe information is that information that's kept OFFLINE, isn't connected to a computer that's connected to the Internet, and is only connected to a computer that's never been ON the Internet when it's needed.

This third quarter FReepathon is on track to finish three days before it did in the same quarter of 2015.
Should it finish sooner? Heck yes. None the less, this forum raises one hell of a lot of money each year from FReepers. We come here voluntarily and support the forum voluntarily.
Handing off the internet is a massive mistake. I agree with your take on it and the threat that represents.
Like BO’B wishing to take broadband to the poor areas who are unable to afford or have the knowledge to progress to bigger and better things. To ‘help’ these folks my broadband has been increased $16 each month. No, it isn’t a great deal of extra money....it’s the fact that they DO IT BECAUSE THEY CAN. Just as Google used their powers to ‘persuade’ URL owners to join in the group to ‘tidy up the place’ and the lambs being led to slaughter felt the privilege of being the leader of the flock. After all, they were chosen and now lead a large community, another layer of ‘management’ Just another bee sting on the butt.

More broadband access is corrupt but at least it would improve communications. The idea of being more inclusive about who becomes co-gatekeeper of the internet?

I fail to remember hearing DJT on this issue. As much as he uses this tool, you would think he would be screaming loudly that it would soon happen. Are there any here who have heard him comment on this?
If Trump said anything about this, I don’t know. But Cruz is still on record being concerned and not getting answers from ICANN.
I’ve been keeping track for some time. Over the last year we haven’t wavered. I check at the end of each FReepathon drive and have found we either end up on the same date or before.
There are some folks (not including you in this) that love to say that the forum is struggling because of “X”, that they didn’t like, but it isn’t true.
Every organization has folks that lose their way and leave or disrupt. We’re no different in that, and in truth, as Conservative as the site is, it’s amazing we don’t have more problems.

Well, SOMEONE had better put a bee in Donald’s bonnet. He has a great deal to lose, perhaps not immediately, but at some point in the future as he does tend to use this medium to get out his message. For conservatives across the fruited plains, this has been a life send to know there are actually many of us on this sacred soil, we are not alone on a small isle.
What scares me the most is that Europeans are globalists and do not believe in free speech or even most of the rights spelled out in or constitution.
They are oppressive elitists who believe that the rest are peasants that need to be controlled for their own good while the elites, the “aristocracy,” live in wealth and comfort. Nothing has changed.
My ancestors left that hell hole for very good reasons. To establish the European aristocratic system here in the United States will invalidate my ancestors suffering and pain that they endured while living in Europe and traveling to the United States.
Hillary and her ilk are trying to move us towards a globalist system of government where international laws trump US laws.
