I hope so. As a girl I had a beautiful part Persian cat who came to us, wandered and roamed our little woods and the road behind our house. I adored her, my mother tolerated her and my father ignore her. She climbed our grand Monterey oak and over our garage roof to my bedroom window to be let in every night. My Grandfather hated cats until she jumped up on the sofa one Christmas and cured up on his lap. My grandfather had a very startled expression and I think he really enjoyed her.

Yes!!!!! The details you described were very similar to what I saw. I have never had a dream like that filled with such detail and the dream went on for such a long time. I can’t tell you how profound my dream was and the amazing thing was that I didn’t mourn him anymore after that encounter whereas before that, I had this heartbreak I carried that filled me with such pain. It was truly a gift and I know in my heart that my dog, Jordan, is waiting for me in heaven.

>to deceive them.

Silly.

Why would a demon spend five seconds giving a person an illusion that brings them peace and happiness after the loss of a deeply-loved one?

And if they are mistaken, why take that harmless error from them if it helps them cope?

Is St Peter going to bar the door because they thought they saw their dog’s spirit?

I had a deeply loved horse...fully planning to see him again when I go to be with the Lord.

Mouse and GG believe that human beings have souls. But I’m not aware of any dissection/exploration that has ever located and identified a ‘soul’ within a human being. So, their beliefs are just that - beliefs.

How is that different from the belief and intuition that these other thoughtful people hold - that their animals have souls of some kind which continue into an afterlife?

We can play ‘my belief or faith is superior to yours’ forever; in the end, we’ve still got belief and faith.

I just tend to see a psychology that sees other good animal-loving people comforted and happy, and needs to undo that.

Seems awfully inhuman to me.

In April we had to have our 16 year old cat euthanized. Raised her from a kitten. It was hard. The morning after we buried her I got up and was completely awake. Started to head into the living room and distinctly heard her meow in the hallway. So amazing I did not tell anyone about it. Nothing since.

I had a couple of cats that I was very close to who have been gone for about 15 years now. I haven't had other pets since. Ever since then, I have had an experience a number of times (a few times each year) in which I feel they've come to visit me. What happens is this: I'm laying in my bed, in an "in between" state of being asleep and being awake. I am not dreaming, and know where I am - lying in my bed with my eyes closed. Suddenly I feel that something has just jumped onto the bed, and is walking around on the mattress (just as it felt when my cats use to do it each night when they were still with me.) Sometimes it feels as though they have curled up next to me. I can usually sense which of my cats is there. (there's usually only one of them, sometimes two.) At that point, I either drift off to sleep, or sometimes force myself to wake up completely and sit up. This seems to happen every few months.

I know that what I'm describing here sounds weird, but has anyone else here had a similar experience?

Spiritually dead mortals are so gullible that demons are now taking the form of dead pets to deceive them. It is crystal clear from the book for Genesis and the account of creation detailed there that animals do not have souls.

One of the above posts cited the Bibical references to Ecclesiastes 3:19-21, which speaks of the animating spirit of life (the breath) in humans and in animals, but also says the spirit of humans goes upward, and the spirit of the animals goes down to the earth. Not to hell; just to the earth, which we love and which reflects God's glory. Still, both are spirit; and it's possible that the pet spirits inhabit a realm separate from the upper heaven to which we aspire. I don't know; but the words of that scripture don't rule it out.

I've just reread the creation account in Genesis 1&2 as you recommended, and haven't understood your interpretation that "seeing" animal spirits is actually seeing demons; since according to Genesis 2, God formed Adam and the animals out of the dust, and then formed Eve from Adam's rib. Could you explain further? Not criticizing; I would like to understand your point of view.

I've had exactly that experience with only one of my late cats, but she does not curl up next to me-- she never did in life. She would jump on my bed and then go to her basket. But I have felt her jumping onto the bed when I'm settling down to sleep, and then off again. So it's her, and not your cat!

What is your cat's name? - so I know what to call her the next time she stops by.

That “in between” state of being asleep happened to me with our beloved male yellow Tabby, Teddy. He had been killed by a pack of dogs, and I was devastated, of course. We had 3 other female cats, all calicos, but Teddy was so special in his own way. One early morning I could feel his warmth and smell his fur on my pillow. I was able to snuggle my face in him and it gave me a feeling of comfort and peace. It happened only that one time, but I can still feel how realistic it was.

The book, “Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates” helped my husband through a rough time after we lost one of our cats — his “best bud”.

Many people have had similar experiences with human loved ones who have just passed - they dream of seeing them, or feel them close, as if they’ve come to reassure. It happened to me the night my father died - he came to me looking as he would have looked as a very young man, long before I knew him. He kissed me and then faded away. I’ve never forgotten it, and have always taken it as a sign that he’s ‘OK’ where he is now.

You can look around you and see our world teeming with life and not know there is a spirit in all of it?

None are as blind as those who refuse to see.

I’m certain that the ‘breath of God’ and Spirit are in all of Creation - are the *substance* of Creation.

I was just making the point that one can’t install one’s own conviction into another person; we have to believe and live by what we are personally and individually convinced is true, and respectfully leave other people to their convictions.
