“Fashion” has always been marked by attempts at ‘cutting edge.’ But style has to be a part of it - This is what made Chanel so great... Why I still appreciate Gaultier... Why Yves St Laurent may be one of my faves.
The problem here is that Jaden Smith just isn’t cutting edge, and there’s nothing “new.” Fashion has always incorporated different kinds of activism, but you can’t get away with putting lipstick on a boy and calling it “fashion.”
It’s just not enough, it’s boring, it was done by the freakin’ expressionists back in the interwar years, and it’s just plain pathetic that someone will all those resources and the best schools, etc. comes up with “Jaden’s got your back.” .
