Latino support for Donald Trump at 40% in New York: poll
New York Post ^ | 8/14/2016 | Kathianne Boniello

New York’s Hispanic voters may have a secret soft spot for Donald Trump.

A new poll pegs support for Trump at 40 percent among Latino registered voters in the Empire State.

The results would be a major break from recent electoral history. Barack Obama took 89 percent of that demographic in his 2012 victory.

And, in a sign of continued electoral turmoil, 20 percent of registered Democrats plan to vote for Trump — while 21 percent of registered Republicans say they will go for Hillary Clinton.

Obama held on to 95 percent of New York’s Democrats in the last election.

“This definitely is one of the stranger election cycles in memory,” said Staten Island City Council member Joe Borelli, a Trump supporter. “But I think this does dispel some rumors about Trump’s numbers in certain communities.”

The survey found Clinton leading her GOP rival in New York by 14 percentage points, with minor-party candidates included.

But the former senator failed to gain a majority in her home state, pulling 48 percent of the vote overall, with Trump at 34 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson at 6 percent, and the Green Party’s Jill Stein at 4 percent.

The Gravis Marketing poll for Breitbart News surveyed 1,717 New Yorkers from Aug. 4-8.

The Trump campaign launched a new offensive Saturday with a lengthy press release — and a list of dozens of recent news headlines — decrying Clinton’s “corruption, pay-to-play and flip-flops.”

Trump attended a Saturday fund-raiser in East Hampton hosted by Jets owner Woody Johnson, then headlined an evening rally in Fairfield County, Conn.

This can’t be right, how can he be at 40% of Hispanics and still only be at 34% total?

It’s funny what supporting American jobs, will do.

Both parties have been sold out to globalists for so long, they have both forgotten that American voters, want American jobs once again.

Trump is the first candidate in either party, to be for returning American manufacturing.

In either party.

Which has done more for New York, in general?

A) The businessman who was born there and built a billion dollar empire and employs tens of thousands, or

B) The sleezy-carpetbagger who slithered in from Arkansas and usurped enough clout based on her hubby to get enough votes to become a US Senator and with the coalition of her impeached hubby built a massive world-wide criminal enterprise of pay-offs and I.O.U.’s.

Candidates often pick a VP for their home state because it will help with the vote. Yet the fact that Trump is a New Yorker never comes up and Florida as his 2nd home is ignored.

History says he should do well in both.

The fact that a good many black and brown people actually want the true American dream, which includes rising as high as their hard work and talents allow is simply befuddling to them.

People actually want freedom and liberty? Wow! Who’da thunk it?

I live in an unusual area. It’s about 25% white, 40% Hispanic and 35% Native Americans. The Hispanics are mostly descendants of Spanish explorers who came here with Coronado. They hate, and I mean hate illegal aliens from south of the border. They refer to them all of the time as being “wetbacks”.

For many Hispanics, the high rate of unemployment is the biggest problem - and many realize that an influx of more legal/illegal unskilled Hispanic immigrants only worsens that problem.

Outstanding rhetorical question expressing an idea I haven't heard before and should have thought of myself!

This doesn’t surprise me at all. This is culturally understandable given that lack of jobs and opportunity extant in this country for anybody including Hispanics. I see this country going into chaos if this criminal is actually elected. She has no clue except classic communism and government work projects to make the people subservient to her government. Legal Hispanics are wonderful ,family oriented, hard working and self sufficient Americans. I understand why they aren’t buying the democrat bull crap.

[while 21 percent of registered Republicans say they will go for Hillary Clinton]

They need to just register as Democrats then.

“Hispanics are probably only 12% of the total.”

If that.

If he has 40% but still trails 48 - 34 overall it must be minuscule.

For example, if he had 40% in California he’d be winning CA in a landslide.

I cannot believe any self respecting Republican would even entertain the idea of voting for Hillary. If you have to be an idiot, just stay home or vote for the third party candidate of your choice. Voting for Hillary is an act of treason. Think about the future generations. She will appoint at least 2 or 3 SC justices and this Country will be over.

“If you vote for Trump, I will divorce you and move to Canada,” she recalled telling him. He tried to laugh it off.

Soon after learning that her husband was not backing away from his decision to support Mr. Trump, Dr. Maguire picked him up at work. She was livid. In the car she asked him how he could actually vote for Mr. Trump after everything that has happened. And why did she have to hear about it from a reporter?

[ . . .]Soon after that, he told her he planned to vote for the Libertarian ticket — a vote that, in his view, would not matter in left-leaning Massachusetts, but one that his conscience and marriage could withstand.

“The good news is, we’re not getting divorced,” Dr. Stossel said.

This looks and reads like an article in the Onion, or from John Semmens.
