“4100 American women a year die from cervical cancer. This vaccine prevents it IF given before they start the boy girl thing.
It shouldn’t ever, under any circumstances be mandatory, but its a good thing.”

The above number doesn’t even cover the number of people who are “cured” of it - after debilitating treatments and/or the knife, both of which can be life-changing and/or limiting.

EVERY vaccine might have a very adverse affect on a very small number of people. Settlements for this are built into the price. Not much of a comfort if that’s you or a loved one affected, but the odds are very, very low.

“This vaccine would not have prevented 4100 deaths, even if given at the right time. “

So it prevents only 3500 deaths?

And how many of the 40,000 cancers does it prevent?

Not if they are substituting some shoddy materials that will expose them to even greater liability, which is what the anti-vaxxers like to allege.

History is replete with companies and people who sell shoddy products hoping to make a fast buck, and hoping no one notices until it's too late. But I'm not saying that's the case here.

My post was to simply point out that if they have found a way to reduce costs (less packaging material, better shipping rates, lower overhead with larger batches, better production methods, etc...), then they can make more per shot if they're still selling at original prices.

Soft drink and beer companies have saved an incredible amount of money on their production costs by reducing the size of the aluminum can lids relative to the diameter of the can. I'm also pretty certain they didn't pass all that savings on to the consumer.

When’s the last time a vaccine manufacturer substituted toxic components in their vaccine to save on costs?

“Do they even test men for HPV? Seems like something you would want men to know if they are carriers of it.”

That’s a good question and one that has been batted about. It seems that since that, as far as I know, men are not directly hurt by being carries of the HPV virus, there’s never been a push to test them. That is exactly why so many are carriers and so many women — yes, even women who are chaste before marriage — end up infected.

And how many of the 40,000 cancers does it prevent?

According to CDC data, about 66% of cancers related to known HPV variants can be prevented with this vaccine, if the numbers are right.

I'm not for or against Gardasil, I'm just wanting the information to be available to make an informed decision. Out of the millions in the country who have sex, or even have HPV, we have roughly 4100 cervical cancer deaths in a given year. That's pretty darn low given the activity/infection level. I just want to ensure that risk of vaccine complications is outweighed by risk of not getting the vaccine. And I sure as hell don't want to have it forced on anyone by the government.

I wasn't vaccinated for Chicken Pox as a kid, and I got Chicken Pox. According to my mother, it really sucked. I don't remember it at all (I was about 8, so I should have, but don't), except that I had it.

What I do know, is that I have had Shingles as a result. I can't afford the Shingles vaccine (nearly $600 out of pocket), so I will have to wait until I'm old enough under my insurance for it to cover it (only 13 years to go). My one and only outbreak was in 2010. It was, thankfully, very light and quickly treated (thanks to my wife). I had been spraying my property with a backpack sprayer full of Round-Up and thought I'd just gotten some on my back and it was a reaction to it, but my wife insisted I go to the quick doc. I'm glad she did. We caught it quick enough to mitigate the outbreak.

I think I would have preferred the Chicken Pox vaccine as a kid.

I'm certain my uncle would have preferred to have the Polio vaccine as a kid, too.

“I never understand the way we push Gardisil on teenage girls.

The cervical cancer danger is in girls who are promiscuous.....”

I think the reasoning is get them young before they are sexually active. Like when they go to college.

So Gardasil is pushing a 66% vaccine. Are the customers made aware of this? Or do they expect 100%?

No you are a jerk for implying that cancer victims brought about their disease through slutty behavior. Victim blaming via medical ignorance. If your medically ignorant perspective results in rude inferences about sick people, you are a jerk.

“The cervical cancer danger is in girls who are promiscuous.”

You said it, now live with it.

The irony of you bleating about name calling while you engage in guileful insults of cancer victims is delicious.

“I now know a person who is _at the top_ of the Gardasil product.

I mean, at the top top. Like, the creator.

This person believes in the vaccine and has their own kids vaccinated with it.......”

If that be so then I would like for this person to explain what is going on! This person should know there can always be problems with vaccines and the general public, not just using it on one’s own kids. There are just too many horror stories coming out with this vaccine. The creator of it needs to re-examine it.

This is a link to a Danish special that outlines the lives of the girls in Denmark whose lives have been altered forever by this vaccine and not in a good way!

Never that I know of.

You seemed to suggest that possibility in your Post 6.

I have no idea. It took me less than 5 minutes to find the data using Google. I looked at both CDC and Gardasil sites. Caveat emptor.

4100 deaths a year? I bet more people die from slipping in their bathtubs each year.

No, I didn’t. I was quoting another poster who made that suggestion, hence the quotation marks.

Not to mention the problem of false negatives (20-45% rate of missing abnormal cells) and the false positive rate (1-10%) that gets you more invasive testing or treatment for nothing.

That's why a good doctor will retest and check thoroughly before proceeding with treatment.

How about convincing us that the vaccine is better than annual pap tests?

You know, life has no guarantees. We can try and be careful with a whole range of things, but something is going to get us.

I don't consider that Gardasil is worth the risk nor has it proved itself in actually doing what it is claimed to do. There is no long term track record. It hasn't been around long enough.

No vaccine takes 100% of the time, and giving people a false sense of security is going to result in MORE cases of cancer not fewer as they think they don't have to be careful or still get annual pap tests while they rely on a vaccine that may not have worked on them in the first place.

Fascinating link.

Interesting comment here down near the bottom.

“Canadian physician Dr. Andrew Moulden provided clear scientific evidence to prove that every dose of vaccine given to a child or an adult produces harm. The truth that he uncovered was rejected by the conventional medical system and the pharmaceutical industry. Nevertheless, his warning and his message to America remains as a solid legacy of the man who stood up against big pharma and their program to vaccinate every person on the Earth.

Dr. Moulden died unexpectedly in November of 2013 at age 49.”

You can’t be a whistle blower and expect a long life.

Sir, I give you "Melamine".

I guess I should have specified American food companies. We are not, after all, talking about vaccines produced in China.
