He may have left his heart in San Francisco, but Tony Bennett is still going strong as he celebrates his 90th birthday today.
The legendary pop-jazz crooner, born Anthony Benedetto in New York City, burst onto the music scene in 1951 with two chart-topping hits, "Because of You" and a cover of Hank Williams' "Cold, Cold Heart." He went on to score more than 30 Top 40 singles by 1965.

Buon Compleanno!
I know him a little bit. A great singer - especially in his later years. Nice guy; very, very dim with awful politics. And his daughter is a true horror. An awful woman who hides behind her father’s dim-witted niceness.
The definitely NOT Tony Bennett version of “San Francisco”:

I have 6 of his songs on my Spotify
My favs are “Fly Me To The Moon” and “The Lady Is A Tramp” with Lady Gaga.
There. Fixed it.
What’s interesting is Tony is a democrat and Hillary supporter... Instead of being in Phillie for Hil’s big speech... Tony was in Washington DC that night having done a show.I suppose his age demographic is not one Hillary is worrying about.
Tony Bennett is unbelievably overrated and an imbecilic moonbat and leftist tool.
What do you really think of him?
Was amused by his numerous comments about Frank Sinatra and allusions to the Mafia. Though the information was interesting it made little impression on the Midwestern audience.
Glad I saw this polished performer. Pleased to add your observations to my impressions of him.
He’s an excellent performer. I saw him in Atlantic City a few years ago. I especially like his latter career which is so much simpler than his earlier Louis Prima/Dean Martin Italian-American style. He’s a true musicologist as well - especially about the American Songbook. I was once in a conversation with some people in which he mentioned he was a huge fan of Diana Washington.
Tony Bennett is a leftist. And he’s a leftist because he’s a combat infantry veteran of WW II, and he saw some horrific fighting as the Allies pushed across the Rhine and into Germany.
That experience turned him into a pacifist, and a leftist. Quite understandable. So I’ll give the old vet a complete pass on that, and instead just enjoy his music, which I do very much.
Back in the day, Ol’ Tony did enough blow to anesthetize a herd of caribou. You don’t do that much blow and walk out without serious cognitive impairmnt. Thus the syophantic liberalism.

Oh, yeah, and his mistress sued him for giving her herpes! Since I’ve seen him without his toupe, that thought sort of makes me retch.
He lost his singing talent about 40 years ago. Can’t stand to hear him sing, especially when he chuckles instead of singing a a note that he can’t reach.
Once he started supporting leftist causes that was the last straw.
Maybe that explains why he lost his singing voice.
