Solution:
No payroll tax, no FICA, etc for working poor.
Even employers share of SS, Medicare, etc goes to the employee.

At the same time no EITC. Cut SSI to the fake disabled.
Make all means-test programs harder to qualify.

Win-win for everyone ... except plantation maintenance crew.

Basically, yes.

Are you in favor of a minimum level of worker productivity? Would you use whips or chains?

Does that mean you think he's lying to get votes?

Where's the lie at?

Businesses that pay very low wages are being indirectly subsidized by taxpayer money. If those employees are below the poverty level the government gives them subsidies for housing, food, medical care, etc. Those subsidies allow workers to continue to go to work for wages they couldn’t otherwise survive on. That’s why the Chamber of Commerce types love both cheap labor and the welfare status quo.

I think he’s trying to pull in the bernie voters and that he doesn’t have a big dog in the hunt to be changing minimum wage. He does say that it should be a state decision which isn’t bad..

See #44. We don’t have a true free market of labor in this country.

My daughter only lasted a day at a Burger King. The following summer she worked harder to get a better job and ended up being paid twice the minimum wage.

There may well be people who would never be suited for anything above minimum wage. What a shame.

Good point. Can't wait for the Simon Legree wing of FR to respond.

While that may be true, I don't think raising the minimum wage is the solution.

Pegged to inflation fits. But I don’t think I like manipulated inflation.

I’m not opposed to raising the minunumn wage. First off, let me be clear: the minunumn wage hurts low skilled employment. This is well established and we all know it.

However there are 2 major benifits to the minunumn wage: Family owned businesses with kid workers have competitive advantage and it forces larger companies to invest in tech to reduce labor costs. This forced technological adavanced greatly increases productivity and makes us all wealthier.

If he's claiming to support an increase in the minimum wage, but has no intention of actually doing anything to effect an increase in the minimum wage, then he's being willfully dishonest.

Is that what you think he's doing?

I like calling it a state issue. Let the states FIGHT IT OUT. If they do, we Texans may well ABOLISH ours. Other states, particularly those into the $15 deal, they can try to compete with us.

LOL!!!!!!!!!
