A municipal court judge in Ohio ordered his bailiff to take a black attorney into custody and sentenced her to five days in jail because she refused to remove a Black Lives Matter pin in the judge’s courtroom.

The incident occurred on Friday in the Youngstown, Ohio courtroom of Judge Robert Milich, reports local CBS affiliate WKBN-TV.

Judge Milich cited the attorney, Andrea Burton, for contempt of court over the button brouhaha.

Milich then sentenced Burton to five days in jail.

When judges egos get involved its never good for the defendant. But I bet the defendant was exactly cooperative or respectful but he should know better than to go fisticuffs with a judge in his own court and territory. The outcome will not be good.

You'd think an attorney would surely know this. You can't win.

It was defendant’s lawyer cited for contempt. Same outcome if the pin had been NRA, I think. Defendant’s lawyer can move the judge recuse from the case in chief, if there is concern about prejudice agains defendant. Would probably get it.

There’s no room for politics in a judge’s turf.

Exactly so. The judge was correct to require her to remove any paraphernalia that would or could possibly taint a jury’s deliberations or his. She was stupid in trying this stunt, and that’s exactly what it was, a stunt to see what she could get away with...................

Obama will call to see if she is OK.

Sandra Fluke style, when she was blindsided by Rush Limbaugh.

BLM = AAKKK

The Black Lives Matter movement is essentially the African American equivalent of the white KKK. Their message is "Lynch The Cops".

I suspect that an attorney who came to court wearing white Klan regalia would get much the same treatment.

With the exception of the American Flag pin, no other items of bias are supposed to be allowed in any courtroom.

Remember the Angel pin worn by Marcia Clarke at the O.J. Simpson trial? Gone. However, you could wear a cross necklace or pin, we have not gone that far right at least as of 1995, I hope...

Actually, it is “Don’t piss off the bailiff.” If you have ever worked in court, you would understand.
