PHILADELPHIA — The head of the Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia is closing the door opened by Pope Francis to letting civilly remarried Catholics receive Communion, saying the faithful in his archdiocese can only do so if they abstain from sex and live “as brother and sister.”

Not even transgendered, homosexual sex? Pope Francis deeply disappointed.

Yet Jesus said divorce was permissible in cases of adultery. The Torah allows for it in cases of abuse and abandonment as well.

It is divorced and REMARRIED Catholics who do not obtain an annulment.

"Yet Jesus said divorce was permissible in cases of adultery.

Now, now. You're not going to allow the Words of God the Savior, Who repeated the Words of God the Father, to get in the way of the traditions of men are you??

That would involve elevating His Words to an authoritative position.

Rules about sex made by men who have never had sex with a woman, and when they do have sex, it’s with a little boy. Meh.

Divorced Catholics prove the opposite every day.

I didn’t know that allowance was in the bible. It makes sense though, as adultery will in effect nullify or invalidate the vows of marriage.

That too, but actually the title is quite correct as it stands.

Gee, but I bet the CC thinks it is ok for 2 men to not have to live like brother and brother.

Annulment is a sick concept as executed. The idea that if someone was not truly marrying in honesty, such as with a bigamist, or a true scam like immigration, or you find out they were a homosexual and just did it for appearances..etc. I get that annulment.
But it has become a catch all for the wealthy, and lesser people can get it too usually by slandering the other persons motives and judging their spiritual fitness at the time they married. This is exactly what Christ commanded us not to do.
Then the kids, I know they aren’t considered illegitimate in the eyes of the church. But still, they are telling these kids that you were not born in a legitimate marriage.

All opinions from some celibate man no more justified before Christ than the people he judges.

My own consolation is in the phrase “holy” Catholic Church.

That word actually soothes my heartbreak.

It tells me there exists a true difference between claimants to the Catholic Church, and the true “Holy” Catholic Church, (as thankfully is stated in the Creed).

Understood. I respect the statement. But just for fun maybe, our neighbor says : “Marriage without sex. Got it. Brilliant! What will they think of next? How about chocolate without weight gain? Now, that one they could sell!”

I think another valid case for an annulment is if the spouse decided, after the couple were already married, that he did not want children.

What appears to be going on now in the Vatican is covered in ambiguity and vague, bearing every marking of heresy against the Catholic Church teaching, even Dogma and Doctrine. It is false, and one could say there are false teachers promulgating a lie.

A few renegades may claim the Catholic Church and they may execute their error and heresy in an administrative fashion, but in truth they are not the holy Catholic Church.

Just wanted to make that distinction. That is why we are well warned in Revelations of “wolves among the sheep”, and understand in that very Last Day, there will be but a “Remnant”, of those left in the Church.
