CHICAGO -- New statistics out Friday show there is an average of 10 shootings in Chicago a day.
There were 355 shootings and 429 shooting victims in June.
There were also 72 murders last month, up from 46 in June of 2015.
At the halfway point for the year, homicides citywide have jumped 49 percent, hitting levels unseen since the late 1990s.
Through June 19, Chicago had more homicide than New York City or Los Angeles combined.
Chicago police are blaming repeat offenders with illegal guns and ties to gangs. The CPD says it has taken more than 4,300 guns off the streets, a 30 percent increase from last year.

I just came back from a Chicago visit and I have to say it’s a beautiful city! Lots to do and I had a great time. Most, if not all, of the crime originates from the south side, about 15 miles or so from downtown Chicago. We did stay in a great hotel in a safe area.
But how many criminals did they take off the streets? And for how long?
That’s good to know. I may be going there soon. Not real happy about it at all because I read all these stories on FR.
Chicago has excellent restaurants and the architecture is stunning. Take an architectural cruise if you have the time. In the main areas for tourists, there are many options for entertainment. As always in major cities, be aware of your surroundings but Chicago can be fun especially in the summertime.
Get rid of the illegal “gun control” bs and let good citizens have some defense. Watch the crime rate go down.
Chicago needs extermination of certain types of individuals.
In a fair world Obama would be pummeled by the media for not showing concern for his city.
Reagan was pummeled for not saying the word “AIDS” in the 1980s, even when he directed massive medical research dollars.
We are witnessing one of the greatest political opportunity expenditures. Body count goes up, yet Obama and the media don’t intervene.

The last time Chicago had a Republican mayor was 1931.
Chicago is a one-party state.
Perhaps the people of Chicago should elected Republicans....It’s not like they can do a worst job.
Factor out 10 or so neighborhoods and Chicago is safer than Brussels.
