Probably a lot of services that start on boot now, instead of at login time. Gotta get all that telemetry up and running, ya know.

Ya never know... Nothing surprises me any more, from ANY of the computer companies.

Hold the line. Microsoft is notorious for releasing their stable revision on the first pass. I’ve held off on Win10 this long. I can wait a few more months.

I find that Win10 boots very quickly. Of course, having at least 4GB of RAM and a fast disk help a lot.
Having adequate memory helps, but I believe the difference in boot times may be a function of how you did the changeover.
Six months ago, I took my 8 year old PC and - after reformatting the hard drive - did a clean install of Win 10. Even though it only has 2GB of RAM, it boots and operates fast.
On the other hand, I just updated my wife's relatively new Windows 8 PC (w/ 4GB RAM) to Win10 yesterday and it now boots and operates slow.
Freakin' MS.

You really need to go read the whole article; there’s a long list of the various interim Win10 releases that discuss the various features being implemented and the overall roadmap they seem to be aiming for.

LOL, yeah.

We're into the Big Push at work to get our users upgraded.

I'm beginning to warm up to Edge as it grows and matures. It renders most stuff really well, and I do like the clean lines and look.

In before the “I’m on Windows XP and it’s fine for my use” and “dude, just install Ubuntu instead” posts.

I don’t want them to have my data. OTH, my data would bore them to death.

I’d not be saddened by their death. :>)

Upgraded to 10, still cannot get EDGE to open for me. Thankfully I had put Mozilla as a browser and it will open. Now I have Google Chrome and Mozilla as browsers and Edge still will not open. For some reason it thinks I am in Denmark or Norway.

Your system probably has some issues. I’m guessing a slow hard drive.

Nope, it was an upgrade from 7 and according to what I’m seeing here and elsewhere there is an issue there.

Otherwise my system is clean and clear. I run several utilities on my system to check for such things. Disk speed is 7200.

Okay guru's. I've been avoiding upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I've heard of a few driver issues, but otherwise after a year, maybe the bugs have shaken out and I should proceed

Recommendations?

I had a 120 SSD, and it filled up quick, even with all my documents on another drive. I finally bought a 1G SSD. Love it. The speed increase over HHDs is incredible.

No guarantees whether you upgrade or not. If it’s important, back it up (preferably off site, in case of flood, fire, etc.)

The above link is my computer building guru, Carey Holzman. Both my wife and my computer were built following his suggestions. He talks about Windows 10 forced upgrade. Holman also does videos for Newegg’s DIY Garage which can be found on YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1kGMCfb2xw

The above link is from a guy named Jerry. He talks about the privacy settings for those who do have Windows 10 installed. He gives a in depth tutorial on what the settings on Windows 10 actually mean and a program from SpyBot that stops MS from re-enabling the settings to default after a reboot. He talks very fast, but plain. Some of the things he’ll show you about Windows 10 are quite disturbing. Don’t let his appearance fool you. This is one smart guy as you will see if you can stick with the video.
